Happy Broadway Birthday for JAI #428

Happy Friday and welcome! It's mid way through School Holidays here in Victoria this week and just to continue thecelebratory vibe, today is also a Public Holiday because there is the finals footy game of the year on Saturday. Yes, sporting mad the country is.....but I'll happily spend the extra time crafting 😊

If you too have time for craft this weekend, we have a new challenge for you at Just Add Ink. This week's pretty and bright colour combination was suggested by Rachael and it is perfect for your Spring or Autumn themed projects and is quite gender neutral too!! Our lovely and talented design team have created a gorgeous array of projects to inspire you so I do hope that you can pop on over to take a peek and hopefully join us. One thing we do ask is that you limit your other colours to white, black and metallics only - no other "neutrals" please.

My card uses the new Broadway Birthday bundle. This is only my second card using this suite but I can see it quickly becoming a favourite as it is so versatile - adults, kids, guys, girls the options are endless. Add in the fun DSP ( background stripes used here) and the options are endless 😊

The fun and sparkly Wish sentiment is added on top of a few layers of Calypso Coral card stock to add a little bright contrast to the otherwise softer tones of Pool Party and  Lemon Lime Twist.

And I couldn't help but add the inside of the embossed frame which goes with this set - embossed with the Simple Stripes EF to continue the stripes vibe.

And finished off with a sprinkling of sequins. Have you tried the new Take Your Pick tool yet for picking up your sequins?? It truly is amazing and is my new best friend on the craft desk πŸ˜€

Kute Kitty for JAI #427

Happy Friday and welcome! It's Springtime, my favourite time of the year and although the temperatures here in Melbourne seem to be slow to rise, the garden is showing good signs and we are definitely enjoying the lighter mornings and evenings!

It's time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink and this week we have one of Tina's popular letter challenges. Working our way through the alphabet we have the letter "K" for us all to use as the main focus of our projects this week. It's one of the trickier letters for sure but as always our talented and lovely design team really did an amazing job of finding 'K" themed projects to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment to pop on over and take a peek and we'd love you to join us.

For my "K" element I chose a rather cute Kitty image and coloured him using Copics. The background has a light water colour wash and a sprinkling of sequins.
One new tool that is fantastic at helping with sequin placement is SU's Take Your Pick. It uses some putty inside the pen "nib" and this means you can pick up sequins and place them perfectly with ease.

The sparkly silver ribbon is left over from Saleabration and is so sparkly it did upset the photos a little but it looks lovely in real life.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see the amazing cards the design team have made to inspire you and I look forward to seeing what you will create with this fun challenge too!

Happy stamping until next time,

Jan

Broadway Birthday for JAI #426

Happy Friday everyone and welcome! It's mid September, and the Spring weather has Sprung - we even had a day above 20 degrees here in Melbourne this week 😊The cherry trees in many streets are in beautiful pink blossom and the dogs are getting antsy at the parks - yes, a definite sign, lol!

It's also time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink and this week we have a clean and rather graphic sketch for you from the lovely Kim.  You can use the sketch just as it is or flip it around whatever works for the project you have in mind. Our lovely and talented design team have created a wonderful array of cards to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment to pop on over and take a look and we'd love you to join us.

I combined a few different things for my card....but the main star is the new Broadway Birthday bundle. I stamped the Hooray in Berry burst and then used the dotted version of the word in White Craft ink to create the patterned look. Sadly, there is no die for this word so fussy cutting was needed.

Details were added to the white banner background with the Simple Stripes EF, and the whole card front was embossed with the Subtles EF but it is very hard to see in the photo.

Card stock: Basic Black, Berry Burst, Whisper White, Gold Foil, Bermuda Bay Glimmer (Glimmer Paper Assortment, SAB)
Designer Series Paper: Fresh Florals Stack (Retired)
Inks: Berry Burst, Craft White, Versamark
Stamps: Broadway Birthday
Accessories: Big Shot, Broadway Lights Framelits, Large Numbers Framelits (Retired), White EP, Regals Enamel Shapes

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see all the inspiration from the rest of the team and I look forward to seeing what you will create with this fun sketch too!

Happy stamping until next time,

Country Home for JAI #425

Happy Spring everyone and welcome 😊The last few days have been the kind that has made Melbourne's weather and Crowded House's song, Four Seasons In One Day so memorable over the years. There has been everything from overnight frosts to sunny highs as well as thunderstorms and hail. But the garden is starting to show signs it is enjoying the growing hours of sunlight and the Spring sound of weekend lawn mowers is for now very welcome!

It's also time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink and this week's gorgeous, country cottage garden inspired image was suggested by the lovely Kelly.  The beautiful florals and greenery are so perfect to celebrate Spring - and Autumn as well - and are so pretty they are hard to resist! As always our design team have created fabulous cards to inspire you so we hope that you can take a moment to pop on over to the challenge blog and hopefully join us.

I was inspired by the florals, pinks and greens and also the country feel of the photo image.  So it seemed the perfect time to have a play with one of the new sets available now in the Holiday Catalogue. Yes, they say it's only 120 days or less to Christmas....so it''s definitely coming πŸ˜€
This is the pretty Country Home set, and I coloured the florals with Blendabilities - including the new Blackberry Bliss and Shaded Spruce combos. And for the jar/ vase I used Copics.

I also added some shading using a Basic Grey Water colour pencil as somewhere for the jar to sit but it has been almost lost in the real shadows created by using dimenionals to add the layers.
I teased out the beautiful Copper Trim and added some Jute Twine and the Wood Textures DSP to emulate the layers of texture in the photo's oak tree, picket fence and cobblestone path.

Whilst many of the sentiments in this stamp set are perfect for the American Thanksgiving holiday, there are plenty more suitable for every day use and I suspect this will be a very handy set to have 😊

Card stock: Whisper White (Thick and standard), Rich Razzleberry
Inks: Momento Tuxedo Black
Designer Series Paper: Wood Textures Stack
Stamps: Country Home
Accessories: Big Shot, Blendabilities Combos: Lovely Lipstick, Old Olive, Shaded Spruce, Calypso Coral, Blackberry Bliss. Copper Trim, Jute Twine ( Retired), Regals Enamel Shapes (sadly retired)
Non SU: Stitched Rectangle Dies (SSS), Copics: C1, C3, C5

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and I look forward to seeing what you will create from using this spring garden inspired image as Inspiration this week.

Happy stamping until next time,

Jan
