JAI #480 Happy Halloween Technique

Happy Friday folks and welcome! It's time for our new challenge at Just Add Ink 😊

Image may contain: text

This week's challenge was suggested by me so I really hope that you enjoy it! You can use any crafting Technique that you choose or combine more than one. Our talented and lovely design team have all fabulous cards to inspire you so I hope that you will pop on over to the blog and join us.

For my card, I combined Brusho water colouring with heat embossing on this Fancy fold Halloween card. The background is made withe Brusho crystals. I sprinkled the crystals over some water color paper and then spritzed some water. Mopped up excess water with a paper towel and repeated the process til I had the red/orange sky I was going for.

Some Gamboge and Red crystals made the job easy to do. Then just some stamping of bats...
The twine is created specially too - some black and also some white, slowly but surely twisted together to create one thread.

Then the sentiment was stamped with Versamark before heat embossed using the new Shimmer Black Embossing powder.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you can pop on over to Just Add Ink and see all the design team inspiration and we'd love to see you join us for the challenge!

JAI #479 Merry Dashing Deer

Happy Friday and welcome! It's amazing how quickly this year and even this month has gone!
Now more than half way through October and around 70 days til Christmas...it won't be long til the holidays will be upon us.

Image may contain: text

It's time for our new challenge at Just Add Ink and this week Jackie has suggested this very peaceful Colour Combo for us all to use in our projects this week. Our design team have created a fabulous array of cards to inspire you so I hope that you can pop on over and take a peek and join us.

These colours seemed to be ideal for Christmas and so I started by creating a background. Splashing a little Distress Resist Spray onto the white card before adding some Coastal Cabana ink and Silver Wink of Stella.

Next the tree from the retired Santa's Sleigh was white embossed and the pretty Dashing Deer and Merry Dies were added. A longer Sentiment strip was created by partial die cutting a stitched rectangle and moving the die along before cutting again.

Card stock: Whisper White (thick and standard), Coastal Cabana, Pear Pizazz, Silver Glimmer
Inks: Coastal Cabana, Versamark
Stamps: Santa's Sleigh. Merry Christmas to All, Dashing Deer
Accessories: Big Shot die cutting machine, Santas Sleigh Thinlits (retired) Merry Christmas Thinlits, Detailed Deer Thinlits, Stitched Rectangle Dies, Wink of Stella, Aqua Painter

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see all the fabulous cards the team have made to inspire you.

Happy stamping until next time,

JAI #477 Happy Tails Thank You

Happy Friday folks and welcome!! It's October, Yay!  And this weekend sees the start of Daylight Savings for most of the Eastern States of Australia so a big sign that warm days and nights are just on the horizon.

This week at Just Add Ink we have this lovely clean and simple sketch designed for you by Kim! You can use it as is, flip it upside down, turn it on it's side....whatever suits the project that you have in mind. Our talented design team have done all of the above flipping and turning so I hope that you can pop over to the challenge blog and we'd  love you to join us!

We have an exciting month ahead...I have 2 of my siblings coming to visit in a few weeks and then just after that we have our Graduation Day at Guide Dogs Victoria...no, Sally is not a Guide, but she was given to me as a Companion and the Companions graduate too. Sally also has just become government funded (NDIS) and she is the first ever Companion to get this so she is pretty special. 😍
We will see Sally's Puppy Raiser family there as well and so this card is for them as they did all the early work that helped make her the wonderful girl that she is. Sally was a cutie pie puppy too and early photos I've seen, she had a pink collar - which I continued without knowing. So the card had to be pink 😀

Happy Tails is the perfect set for a Labrador and so Sally is coloured using Copics and then the collar was coloured onto another stamped version and then fussy cut and added on top.  A small gold sequin is added for collar tag for the gold standard that she has achieved. 😊
The sentiment is stamped in Versamark and the fun Shimmery Black Embossing Powder added for effect.

The stitched banners here are longer than the standard sizes of the Stitched Rectangles Dies but it's easy to create the perfect size. There are two ways - find the right width you want and partially die cut the card stock, re-position the die and cut again. Or, you can use a die larger than you need to get the stitched length that you want and then use the long side of the die to cut the ends. I did a bit of both to have stitching on every layer.

Card stock: Basic Black, Melon Mambo, Whisper White
Ink: Melon Mambo, Momento Tuxedo Black, Versamark, Blends (Lovely Lipstick)
Stamps: Happy Tails, Thankful Thoughts
Accessories: Big Shot, Stitched Rectangle Dies, Dog Builder Punch, Shimmery Black EP, Metallic Sequins (retired)

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see all the fabulous inspiration from the rest of the team and I look forward to seeing what you will create with this fun and versatile sketch!

I couldn't resist sharing a photo of the special girl who inspired this card...

Here she is as a tiny puppy at her lovely Puppy Raiser's home wearing her pretty pink collar.

Happy stamping until next time 😀

JAI #476 Beautiful Day

Hello everyone and welcome! The year is speeding by and it is amazing to think that Spring is almost one third down already. The days are starting to warm up, the birds and animals are nesting and the flowers are beginning to bloom!

Image may contain: flower and nature

Talking of flowers blooming...This week at Just Add Ink, we have this beautiful sea of tulips to inspire our crafting from Lou! You can take whatever catches your eye from the above photo - the mass of florals, the textures, stripes or colours to create your project. The design team have made a fabulous display too so I hope you can pop on over to the challenge blog and take a peek.

For my card, I used the colours to create another Spring loving creature - a butterfly! For the design I was inspired by Janneke de Jong's cropped butterfly and decided to do a rare CASE. (Copy Share and Edit)
Just because it is a CASE, it doesn't mean you can't add your own twist on it and that's what I did here.
The butterfly is embossed using my new favourite - Shimmer Black EP - it has quite a sparkle IRL!
And I then used a combination of Blends and Copics to colour him in the photo colours before fussy cutting him - yes including those fun feelers 😀

Be careful when using pens to colour that the embossing is fully set as the nibs could pick up any loose powder left behind
In the background of the flowers,  I noticed the green leaves of the trees and so added a few scattered spots that are also in the stamp set around the butterfly.
This mix of stamped and metallic die cut sentiment (layered with white) is also a favourite technique now - and I hope this set stays for a long time 😀

Card stock: Whisper White, Shaded Spruce, Copper Foil
Inks: Versamark, Shaded Spruce

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see all the lovely cards our team have created to inspire you and I look forward to seeing what you will create with this beautiful floral sea Photo inspiration.

JAI #475 Just Add...Piece of Cake

Happy Friday and welcome! The weather is starting to warm up and the days are getting longer...and the allergies are in full swing too. 😆

Image may contain: text

This week at Just Add Ink Kelly has a fun theme for us - she wants us to Just Add Food to our projects this week. So whether that is popcorn carrots, fruit or cake we would love to see what food you'd like to share with us this week! Our design team has pulled out all the food groups for you so we'd love to see what food you have hiding in your craft room ( on a card lol!)

This week I decided to go a bit rainbow coloured. The weather is warming up and I am thinking of Summer 😀 I used Distress Inks for the background and the sentiment from Bloom and Grow is embossed using the new Sparkle Black EP. It really has a fabulous shine! The cake images are coloured using Blends and Copics and then all covered with Clear Wink of Stella.

It's funny how pinks can show up slightly differently in different lights and that seems to be what is happening here.

Yes, it's bright and cheery but then so is the weather this week - first time we've hit 20 degrees since April 😀

Card stock: Whisper White
Inks: Versamark, Momento Tuxedo Black, Blends: Calypso Coral, Rococo Rose, Marina Mist, Blackberry Bliss, Lovely Lipstick
Stamps: Piece of Cake, Bloom and Grow
Accessories: Die Cutting Machine, Stitched Rectangle Dies, Cake Builder Punch, Sparkle Black EP
Non SU: Distress Inks (Picked Raspberry, Squeezed Lemonade), Sequins- Crystal Reflections by SSS

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you can pop on over to Just Add Ink and see all the fun and gorgeous cards from our design team and I look forward to seeing what food item you will make the main focus of your projects this week.

Water Coloured Magnolia for JAI #474

Happy Friday and welcome! Our household had a min-break down to the beach last week for the first week of Spring but now we're back and getting into the swing of things again. Melbourne is living up to it's famous name for having Four Seasons in one day the last week has certainly seen a lot of that.

Image may contain: text

It's new challenge time at Just Add Ink and this week, Jo has given us this rich and delicious colour combo to use in our projects. The design team definitely seemed to enjoy this one and we hope that you do too! Please remember to only add black, white and/or metallics in your creations for this challenge, no other colours.

For my card this week, I followed the general theme of our design team and went for flowers :-)
But for something a little different, I embossed the smaller bloom and leaf images from Magnificent Magnolia with the new Shimmer White Embossing Powder. I find it has a slight silver shimmer rather than white but it does give a lovely sparkle! Then I coloured these with ink pads and an Aqua painter.

The background is also water coloured and I added a few splatters with my Aqua painter and Gold Wink of Stella.
Underneath the gold birthday are 3 layers of Blackberry card stock for interest and texture.

You might notice that the Happy banner has a stitched side edge? That is easy to create, just cut the banner longer than you need and then use the same framelit to create the angle that you need and Hey Presto - custom stitched label created!

Card stock: Blackberry Bliss, Mossy Meadow, Rococo Rose, Gold Foil
Inks: Blackberry Bliss, Rococo Rose, Mossy Meadow, Versamark
Stamps: Magnificent Magnolia, Well Said
Accessories: Big Shot, Magnolia Memory Dies, Well Written Dies, Stitched Rectangle Dies, Gold Wink of Stella, Gold twine (retired), Shimmer Black and Shimmer White EP, Gold Pearls, Aqua Painter, Gold Washi Tape (retired)

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see all the inspiration from the rest of the team and I look forward to seeing what you will create with this rich and beautiful colour combo too!

Happy stamping until next time,

See a Silhouette for JAI #472

Hello and welcome! It is the last Friday in August and very soon we will be celebrating the arrival of Spring. It hasn't necessarily been the coldest Winter on record but it sure has seemed like a long one. But the sun is rising earlier now and there are lots of pretty Cherry Trees in blossom in the streets.

No photo description available.

This week at Just Add Ink we have a fun and striking sketch for you from Tina. You can use the sketch as is or flip it around to suit your creation. As always, our lovely design team have created a beautiful array of cards to inspire you so I hope that you can take a moment to pop on over to take a moment and join us.

My card this week was created using the See a Silhouette DSP that is partnered with the Silhouette Scenes stamp set. This paper is amazing and looks as though it's been created with the original Brusho selection.

The main flower is fussy cut and the the stem is created by die cutting a dandelion from the coordinating dies and layering it underneath the bloom. And the sentiment comes from the versatile Well Said bundle.

Card stock: Real Red, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: See a Silhouette
Stamps: Well Said
Accessories: Big SHot, Well Written Dies, White EP, Gold Faceted Gems, Gold Pearls

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you can pop on over to Just Add Ink and see all the fabulous cards the design team have created to inspire you and I look forward to seeing what you create with this fun sketch too.

The beautiful Bloom and Grow images were coloured with a mixture of Blends and Copics before being smothered with some Wink of Stella.....and the sentiment was embossed in Copper for the inside. And this CAS card is ready already 😊
