JAI #490 Easel Card Just Fur You

Happy Friday to you and welcome!! It is another hot Summer's day in Melbourne today - a good day to be inside in aircon and to craft if time permits. This is a short week for those in Australia as we had our Australia Day holiday on Monday and the week has flown past.

So it's time for a new challenge week at Just Add Ink where the lovely Lou has chosen a fun one for us all - to "Just Add..... an Easel". Be that an Easel in an image or one of the many types of Easel cards, the choice is up to you. The design team had a field day with this and so it is well worth hopping over to the challenge blog and we'd love you to join us 😊

What is your starting point for making a card? Mine is the stamp set. Every time, whatever the challenge. Once I know what images to use, the ideas start to come. I had a special person in mind to create for this week too and knew that a yellow Lab needed to feature - so the stamp set was easy!  Like many card makers, I have loved making Easel cards over the years and decided to use this challenge to try something new, so this is a new Easel design to me inspired by another Jan, Jan B  ðŸ˜€

This card folds flat (like a top folding card) and fits in a standard C6 Envelope and that is something that helped my decision. I started by colouring the Lab with Copics - colouring out to white using the Colour Lifter (which you could do with SU or any alcohol inks too).

The dog's collar, I drew onto another stamped image and coloured and fussy cut to fit as once again this is personalised for the recipient - one of the great things about hand making our cards.

I also love to mix and match products and have paired the Happy Tails Lab with the Dressed to Impress DSP.  This DSP is so pretty irl and so instead of putting the sentiment on the bottom layer to hold up the card as is usual, I fussy cut 3 of these delightful blooms to pop up and hold the card front as if in a sea of flowers.

Which left room for a sentiment inside instead! Most people know that I have a happy association with Guide Dogs Victoria as my beautiful Sally who now helps me came from them. So as this card is for someone special there, this sentiment from Silhouette Scenes seemed so perfect.

Card stock: Powder Pink, Basic Black, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Dressed to Impress 6x6 Stack
Inks: Momento Tuxedo Black, Versamark
Stamps: Happy Tails, Silhouette Scenes
Accessories: Die Cutting Machine, Stitched Nested Labels, Dog Punch, White EP, Metallic Sequins (retired)
Non SU, Copics : E31, Y21, 0

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you have a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see all the fabulous cards the team have made to inspire you and I look forward to seeing how you decide to Just Add..an Easel to your creations this week!!

Happy days til next time,
Jan

JAI #489 Happy Birthday To You Colours

Hello and welcome everyone! Well, what a wonderful week it has been in the JAI family! Our annual Blog Hop and special celebration challenge generated lots of love and encouraging comments all around. I am so blessed to part of such a fab team of lovely ladies and thank you,  the participants for joining with us each week!

No photo description available.

It's now time for a NEW Just Add Ink challenge week and Rachael has given us a very fun Colour challenge where you can choose 3 out of the 5 colours to work with. Please remember the only other additions to be black, white or metallics. The design team had a lot of fun with this and have come up with so many different combos that I encourage to pop on over and be inspired and we'd love you to join us!

Of course, Lovely Lipstick was top of my list to include on my card- as it's my favourite colour over Mambo if you hadn't guessed - and next Blueberry Bushel, but the other colour took some trial and errors to decide on. I tried both Daffodil Delight and Bermuda Bay before settling on the Call Me Clover.  Colour challenges have always been my Kryptonite so having a few choices was really good!! In the end, I'm happy with how this turned out 😊

I moved house in November and a lot of supplies have been in storage (and some still are). ... Sometimes you don't realise just how often you use things til you don't have them - like Embossing Buddies, Water Color Pencils and Wink of Stella and how stifled you feel as a crafter! But having these back in my now tiny craft space, again has renewed my mojo - hooray!
The blooms are coloured using Blends and Copics and the Cake with a Blender Pen twice to cut out and layer the blooms on top with dimension. It's hard to see but the Blueberry Panel has embossed with the Subtle folder.
I love combining new sets with different ones and changing the feel a bit and so the fave Well Said bundle and some sparkly Silver Glimmer Paper layered over some white card was this week's choice. What is your fave style or trick? Or are not quite sure what it is yet?

Card Stock: Blueberry Bushel, Whisper White, Basic Black, Silver Glimmer
Inks: Blends: Lovely Lipstick, Copics for Bushel and Clover, Versamark, Momento Tuxedo Black
Stamps: Happy Birthday To You (Saleabration), Well Said
Accessories: Die Cutting Machine, Well Worded Dies, Stitched Rectangle Dies, White EP, Metallic Sequins (retired) Wink of Stella

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you can pop over to the JAI challenge blog and see all the fun colour combos the rest of the design team have chosen and I look forward to seeing what you create for this fun challenge.

Happy stamping til next time,

Jan

The theme for this week's challenge is "Celebrate".
As part of our milestone celebrations the design team are offering prizes. Our Top Pick & Honourable Mentions will receive a special gift.  We'll be choosing some other entries to receive a little something also - to be eligible all you have to do is leave a comment on each of the blogs along the hop - 14 stops in total. Prizes include stamp sets, card kits, embossing folders, ribbons, rhinestones, handmade cards/tags....

For my card I decided to create a Birthday card in honour of the Celebratory theme this week!
I used stamps to colour both the blooms and leaves of the Painted Poppies set and also to create the background.

This was my first play with the Painted Poppies set and although there are dies for the blooms, I decided to fussy cut them as well to reduce the amount of white border on the edges and allow the colours to really pop.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are enjoying seeing the first Just Add Ink challenge of the year and design team BlogHop. Now it is time to Hop on over to see Rachael and her fabulous projects that I know you will love. See you again soon!
