Happy Petals for JAI #410

Happy Friday everyone and welcome! It's been a grey old week weather wise but they assure us that we will see the sun return this weekend and it will be very welcome to enhance the colours of Autumn that are on show :-)

Also full of colour is our new challenge at Just Add Ink  . This week we have this fun and pretty Inspiration Photo for you suggested by Jo. You can take whatever appeals to you from the photo - whether than be the polka dot and banner themes or the mix of colours and white space. Our lovely design team as always have made a fabulous array of cards to inspire you so I hope that you can take a moment to pop on over and take a look and join us.

For my card, I drew inspiration from the colours, polka dots and celebratory feel of the photo. Starting with water colouring the floral image and background using ink pads and then I was able to add a couple more colours under the die cuts for a fun look :-)

Under the Swirly circle die is a layer of  Pool Party as well as the water colour background.

And under the sparkly Celebrate, is a sneak peek of one of the new In Colours coming in June ...Pineapple Punch - it's a bright and yes, a rather punchy yellow :-)

This was my first play with the Petal Palette set believe it or not but these lovely roses are sure to become a "go to" in the year ahead. Have you tried them yet?

Birthday Blooms JAI #408

Happy Friday everyone and welcome! It's a chilly one here in Melbourne with Winter arriving early this weekend. However, my Stampin Up order has arrived just in time to keep me busy with a couple of sneak peak items from the upcoming catalogue due to launch in June -yay!

And in time to help you with your weekend craft projects we have a new challenge at Just Add Ink! This very pretty colour palette was suggested by Rochelle and our lovely designer team have created a wonderful array of cards to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment and pop on over and join us.

This week my card took it's time coming together. I wanted to use the lovely, and sadly retiring Birthday Blooms and started by colouring that using all 4 colours. Next I created the background by first spritzing some water color paper with Tim Holts's Distress Resist Spray and when dry, I used and Aqua Painter and ink pads to add some colour.

Maybe you can see the white texture in the background a bit better in this pic?

Card stock: Wild Wasabi, Powder Pink
Inks: Melon Mambo, Powder Pink, Pear Pizazz, Wild Wasabi
Stamps: Birthday Blooms, Sunshine Sayings
Accessories: Big Shot, Stitched Shapes Framelits, White EP, Metallic Shapes Assortment,
Non SU: Watercolor Card Stock, Distress Resist Spray

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and be inspired and I look forward to seeing what you will create with this soft and pretty colour combo too.

Happy stamping until next time,

High Tide Ocean for JAI #407

Happy Friday everyone and welcome :-) The first week of May is here already. Is it just me or is this year really speeding along?? It's been extra busy in our house this week but I'm so looking forward to the weekend and having some crafty time.

And to help with your weekend crafting, our new challenge at Just Add Ink is one of Tina's fun Letter challenges. This week, it's Just Add..."O". So that could be a colour such as Old Olive, a stamp set like Oh So Eclectic or whatever else beginning with the letter "O" that you'd like to use as your main focus. As always, our lovely design team have all created amazing cards to inspire you so I hope you can pop on over and join us!

For my card, I created an Ocean using Distress Inks and the new Distress Resist Spray. This is a really fun technique - the spray dries clear and adds shine and texture and using it between each layer means it traps individual colours too.  There is a great tutorial here by Jennifer McGuire.
I started by spraying and adding some drops to the white watercolor card stock and once it was dry, started adding layers of colour. This was my first play with the Spray and I love how it looks like sea spray :-)

Stopping after each new colour, to add some more spray and drops and allowing it to dry before the next layer did take some time but the result was worth the time and effort :-)

To complete the card, I made a mask for the light beam and blended some more ink over the background before stamping and fussy cutting the light house. The sentiment is embossed in Black on Vellum and there is added sparkle and shine with the silver ribbon and added sequins.

Card stock: Dapper Denim, Whisper White, Vellum
Ink: Versamark, Real Red, Dapper Denim
Stamps: High Tide
Accessories: Big Shot, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Irridescent Sequin Assortment, Black EP, Silver Ribbon
Non SU: Watercolor Card Stock (TH Distress). Distress Resist Spray, Distress Inks: Salty Ocean, Mermaid Lagoon, Blueprint Sketch,Twisted Citron, Cracked Pistachio, Scattered Straw, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see the awesome inspiration the design team have created to inspire you and I look forward to seeing what fun "O" elements you will be inspired to use in your projects too!

Happy stamping until next time,

Jan
