JAI #634 Visa Gift Card Wallets

Happy Friday everyone! It's hard to believe that we are half way through December already! Christmas is coming and here in Melbourne it has been unusually cold. I wonder if that means that we will have a White Christmas even though it's supposed to be Summer?

This week at Just Add Ink, we have a fabulous challenge suggested by Tristan, to Just Add... Anything But a Card". That could be a Gift Card, a gift box or bag or a seasonal frame. So many different things you could create that are not cards. Our lovely design team have made some amazing projects to inspire you so I hope that you can take a moment to pop on over and see and we'd love you to join us.

I decided to make some large Gift Card holders and decorate them like wallets.
Visa gift cards come in large packets and are sealed so you cannot open them. The packet is more than twice the size of the actual card.
These I am sending overseas to my nieces and nephew amongst other things.

The wallets all have a silver strip along the bottom of the front flap that help it make look more professional.

And inside, they have an image from North Pole Mischief.
Rather obviously, this recipient is a cat lover.

This one for my Teenage nephew. He has indeed been good this year!.

I love the fun nature of both the DSP and the NP Mischief sets.

And some florally, girlie sets with the initial set over a delicate ornament.

My nieces and sisters are all cat people so that is reflected in this fun  set.

The main idea was to present the gift card in a fun way and make it special for each person.
I hope they all like their gift holders this year!

What will you make that is not a card for this second last Just Add Ink challenge for 2022? We'd love to see what you are creating for friends and loved ones.

'Til next time,

Jan

JAI #632 Sparkle and Trees

Happy Friday everyone and welcome!! How amazing that we have just three more Fridays before Christmas!! It is the busiest time of year for a card maker and I'm sure we are all head down and hands busy creating!
This year has seem many changes in my life but the joy of Christmas is one that keeps on giving and so does being a part of the wonderful family at Just Add Ink.

This week's challenge at Just Add Ink  is a fun and potentially traditional Christmas theme from Di Barnes. So this is perfect to help all of us with our creating for friends and family this season. You can keep it traditional if you like or put a modern twist on it. We'd love to see what you create!

I chose Trees and Sparkle and made two slightly different cards using the Tree Lot Dies that were available to earn during Saleabration back in August.

In one card the little die cut dog has an eye ...and in the second he doesn't as I can't decide if I like the eye or not!😂 The background is sponged to create a Northern Lights inspired effect including flicks or water and Wink of Stella - gold Wink in the left card, and silver in the right.

The tree outline paper is from the Real Red and White Glimmer paper stack and paired with the silver provides the shine element for this week's challenge.

This card I think is my favourite - the photo doesn't do the background justice as to how the ombre blue and slightly less bright yellow work together. And as a dog owner, the little pup was the perfect addition for this scene and he is jumping up from the sentiment strip.

Card stock: Basic White (Thick), Night of Navy, Silver Glimmer, White Glimmer
Inks: Starry Sky, Pineapple Punch, Versamark
Stamps: Trees For Sale
Accessories: Die Cutting Machine, Tree Lot Dies, White EP, Metallic Sequin Assortment, Wink of Stella (silver and gold)

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you have enjoyed seeing my take on this week's Just Add Ink challenge and hopefully I've inspire you to enter this week! I so look forward to seeing all you create as you also inspire me!

JAI #630 Joyful Pets Inspiration

Hello and welcome! It's mid-way through November and this week in Victoria we have had snow and hail - Wednesday was officially the coldest day in November on record! Maybe the snow is a reminder that it is only 37 days until Christmas?? I sure hope it is a bit warmer here by then!!

Whether you are wishing for a snowy Wintery blast or just want to enjoy the feel of the holidays, this week's Inspiration Photo for Just Add Ink, suggested by Kerry will help spark your crafting projects. The other design team members have all created very pretty projects and we've used  a variety of themes to hopefully inspire you. Please pop on over to have a peek and we'd love you to join us.

Initially, I had planned to use the new Christmas Scotty for this week's challenge. But when I was getting ready to start crafting, I couldn't help seeing the gorgeous Golden Retriever puppy in the bottom row of the photo collage. That was it, a change in plan as there was no way that I could un-see that cute puppy!!

People with puppies and dogs unsurprisingly feature heavily amongst those on my Christmas card list - for those that are unaware, I am a very grateful recipient of a Black Labrador X Retriever from Guide Dogs Australia who helps me daily with my balance and other things due to some disabilities. Sally has changed my life, ensuring that I remain independent and I will be forever grateful to Sally for the kindhearted and generous girl she is.  She loves to work - she's a hopeless shopaholic and can't resist a walk around a shopping centre. Guide Dogs too, is a wonderful organisation that have taken us under their wings - we have so many new friends now to add to the many dog people we knew before.
So...long story, but seeing the Golden (Retriever) in the photo was a big deal. Sally's mum is a Golden for a start, plus we of course know several others too...

Last year's Sweet Little Stockings set and DSP of the same name could've been made for us...and yet we have some left! So it was time to put that to good use. The little corgi this year seems to have extra significance... and who can resist a grumpy cat Lol! Paired with the Buffalo Check stamp to create the background and the beautiful Peace and Joy bundle combined to create the sentiment.

It is 37 days to Christmas and counting....so it is definitely time to get your Christmas craft started if you haven't already and hopefully this week's challenge will help inspire you with your list of projects to make this Season.

Card stock: Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White, Gold Foil
Designer Series Paper: Sweet Little Stockings (Retired)
Inks: Cherry Cobbler
Stamps: Peace & Joy, Buffalo Check
Accessories: Die cutting machine, Stitched Rectangle Framelits, Joy Dies, Metallic Sequins Assortment

JAI #626 Mechanic Thank You

The warmth of Spring has definitely arrived this week - and is really needed as in Victoria and also here in Melbourne, there has been a lot of rain leading to floods. And sadly the worst is not over yet for many. It is good to see that these sort of events largely do bring out the best in people - communities banding together to help each other is so needed and so uplifting to all involved.

This week at Just Add Ink, we have this fabulous Sketch from Di Barnes to spark your creativity. All the  design team have created projects of various themes and colours to help inspire you so I hope that you can pop on over to the blog and have a look - and we'd love you to join us too!!

For my card....I kept pretty close to the sketch in a CAS way - the two ribbon pieces make up two of the sketch elements instead of perhaps using layers. The circle element I left out. I did create a large tyre (with an alloy wheel)  but it didn't quite look right.

I drive a silver VW and have a black dog hence the Beautiful Ride set is perfect for this!
This card is to thank my mechanic as he did a rather big job recently. The heater/ aircon Core is located directly behind the unit and the centre console - so that means that the whole dashboard, every instrument and the centre console needs to come out. Then the heater core is able to be replaced and the car rebuilt again. It is many hours work so a card is the least I could do....

The VW and dog are coloured with Copics and the sentiment is embossed in Silver to match the silver ribbon and added sequins.
The Mechanic is a dog lover, with two dogs alongside him at the workshop - and he knew I also had a foster dog as well as my own black Lab when arranging pick up so there needed to be a dog included. 😊

Card stock: Basic Grey, Basic White
Designer Series Paper: Oh So Ombre (6x6 Retired)
Inks: Momento Tuxedo black, Versamark, Copics
Stamps: Beautiful Ride, Biggest Wish
Accessories: Silver EP, Silver ribbon (retired), Metallic Sequins Assortment.

Thanks for popping by today! I hope that you like my CAS male thank you card and that it might inspire you to join us at Just Add Ink this week!

JAI# 624 Merry Christmas Diorama

Hello and welcome!! It's the first week of October and that means we are a third the way through Spring and getting close to Christmas! How quickly the time goes when it gets to this time of the year. The days are getting longer although I must say they haven't seemed to get very warm here in Victoria yet. Hopefully that will change soon.😊

This week at Just Add Ink we have a Challenge for all of you lovers of 3D cards suggested by Kerry - Diorama cards!! Yes, it's time to get the layers of paper together and make a scene! The design team have created a beautiful array of cards to inspire you so I hope that you can take a moment to pop on over to the blog and we'd love you to join us!

Yes, Diorama cards....I have never made one until now. So this was a learning curve for me. A diorama card is one made to tell a scene with layers of card stock inside. A bit like a box card. I think next time, I'll include the concertina sides onto the measurements for the base piece for increased strength.
Here is a side view of this card to show the layers.

To begin with, I started with the sponged background. Looking for a Northern Lights inspired look.
Next I stamped and fussy cut the little Scotty (or Westie) and then looked to how to shape and complete the layers of the diorama.

Once the layers were created - snow covered hills in this case - it was time to fill them with the trees - one layer each of colour and one of sparkle  from the Tree Lot Dies available as part of the recent Saleabration - and add some decorations to the front of the card too.

When I completed the layers and added all the trees from the Tree Lot dies, it left the top of the card quite ...well empty ....in comparison. So as the main character is from the Christmas Scottie...I decided to stay with the puppy theme and added the sparkly "dog star." Of course there really is a dog shape made of stars,  it's called Sirius. Then it was time to let it snow. 😊

Card Stock: Fresh Freesia, Grateful Grape, Meadow Moss, Parakeet Party, Diamond Glimmer, Whisper White Thick.
Inks: Starry Sky, Fresh Freesia, Parakeet Party,
Stamps: Christmas Scottie
Accessories: Die cutting Machine, Stitched Rectangle Framelits, Tree Lot Dies, Home Together Dies, Signpost Dies. Metallic Sequins Assortment
Non SU: Distress Resist Spray

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you enjoyed my first diorama card! You can find more inspiration from the rest of the lovely design team at Just Add Ink and I look forward to seeing what you will choose as the theme for your card for this challenge.

Jan

JAI #622 Happy Birthday Masking

Happy Friday and welcome!! It has been quite a week of highs and lows. From watching the world and esp the UK mourn the loss of our longest reigning Monarch to today - a Public Holiday in Victoria to celebrate the finals weekend of our AFL Footy and at last it returns to it's home the great MCG after 2 years of being played elsewhere because of Covid. I'm not a huge footy fan, but go the Cats - let's hope the Victorian team wins!!

And it's a new challenge week at Just Add Ink. This week, Nikki has suggested an elegant Choose Two of Friend, Foliage or Masking. Such an elegant choice! Our design team has of course created a wonderful array of projects to inspire you so I hope that you're able to pop on over to the blog and we'd love you to join us!

For my card...I chose Masking and Foliage.
I've gone for a simple design. The ink blending of a rainbow of colour for the background is enough vibrancy!
To bring it all together, there is some Embossing Paste added through a leaf themed mask (being the Foliage  AND Masking) and then the sentiment is a mixture of die cutting using the Saleabration Real Red and White Glimmer Paper and embossing.
And of course a liberal sprinkling of rhinestone jewels complete this card.

This is such a bright and cheery card, inspired by the colours of Spring that are starting to show their blooms in the gardens all around the country.
Thanks for stopping by! I hope that you can pop on over to Just Add Ink and join us in this week's challenge.

Card stock: Whisper White Thick, Vellum, Watercoloring Paper
Inks: Versamark
Accessories: Die cutting machine, Stitched Shape Framelits, Rectangle Framelits, Well Worded Dies, Pattern Party Masks, White EP, Embossing Paste, Basic Rhinestones
Non SU: Distress Inks for ink blending.
