Peace On Earth for JAI #370

Happy Friday and welcome :-) It's time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink and this week we have a clean and very versatile sketch from Narelle. The design team have created some gorgeous cards to inspire you including some new Guest Designers joining us on the team too so please make them feel welcome :-)

I have an upcoming class in a couple of weeks so this card was made with that in mind. It is CAS and has two types of embossing for a fun technique as well as some texture. It's also a card that has a home already  - as I'm often asked for a card with deer for my BIL who is fond of a little deer watching / hunting :-)

Card stock: Early Espresso, Whisper White, Garden Green, Vellum
Designer Series Paper: Wood Textures Stack
Ink: Early Espresso, Versamark
Stamps: Carols Of Christmas
Accessories: Big Shot, Layering Circle Framelits, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Card Front Thinlits, White EP, Metallic Sequins assortment

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see the inspiration from our lovely team and I look forward to seeing what you will create with this fun and versatile sketch this week too!

Sending Smiles for JAI #369

Happy Friday and welcome! The end of the school holidays also saw the end of our long Winter dry spell. We sure need the rain but it was lovely to see the sun show it's face  (albiet briefly) this afternoon too  :-)

Also very lovely is our new challenge at Just Add Ink! This gorgeous scenic photo has been suggested by Rochelle for us to use in our crafting this week. You can take whatever inspires you from the photo and our fabulous design team have created awesome cards to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment to pop on over and take a look and welcome a new Guest Designer too :-)

I ended up making two cards for this challenge. The photo really appealed to me as the water and trees reminded me of my old home town of Nelson in New Zealand. But unusually, trying to transfer that to paper was a challenge that took me a few days and a few versions to make happen. Eventually, I went back to my comfort zone of a water coloured background using Ink pads and an Aqua painter - and suddenly I had the basis for two cards. For the first, I used 3 stamped balloons and added some silver clouds and bling

For this second card, I added a larger balloon I'd coloured the day before using Water Color Pencils for a softer look and followed the same design.

Hopefully you can see the background and details in the mountains a little better here. They are first coloured in Old Olive and then a little Emerald Envy is blended in for effect. To blend using water colours the key is to use the same amount of water with each - and remember to take into account that the first colour may be drying a little.
For the sky, I started with the lightest blue and made a light Ombre wash then flicked some blue ink spots using the Aqua painter's lid and some Clear Wink of Stella too for a little shimmer :-)

Card stock: Berry Burst, Flirty Flamingo, Whisper White, Silver Glimmer
Inks: Old Olive, Emerald Envy, Soft Sky, Tempting Turquoise, Dapper Denim, Versamark
Stamps: Lift Me Up
Accessories: Big Shot, Up and Away Thinlits, White EP, Basic Rhinestones, Water Color Pencils
Non SU: Water colour card stock - TH

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see the fabulous inspiration our lovely design team have made to inspire you and welcome our new Guest Designer too! And I look forward to seeing your take on this gorgeous photo this week :-)

Happy stamping until next week,

Daisy Thank You for CTC136

Hi there,  it's Saturday and a chilly day here in Melbourne. So far we seem to avoid the rain that has been forecast off and on the last week but we really need some so hopefully we will get  some soon.

I was looking to make some thank you cards so this week's Casing the Catty's Challenge from Facebook is to use something from the Thanks section was perfect timing.  I love the Pool Party card on page 126 so that was an easy choice :-)

I didn't change much - I did change the Embossing Folder, and added a Copper Oval under the DSP version. I also used slightly different leaves for the background and a few other different details.

Maybe you can see the sparkle of the Wink of Stella applied to the pink leaves here?

Card stock: Pool Party, Vellum, Powder Pink, Old Olive, Copper Foil
Designer Series Paper: Delightful Daisy, Naturally Eclectic
Inks: Black Archival, Old Olive
Stamps: Daisy Delight
Accessories: Big Shot, Pinewood Planks Dynamic EF, Daisy Punch, Basic Rhinestones, Triple Banner Punch

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop by Facebook and check out the Caseing the Catty Challenge :-)

Cool Treats Trees for JAI #368

Happy Friday everyone and welcome! There is something very special about Fridays - and no, not that it is almost the weekend, but it is time for a new challenge with the lovely team at Just Add Ink!

And this week we have a brand new type of challenge for you - to Just Add a Twist! The fabulously fun twist this week is suggested by Kelly and is to Use a Birthday set to make a Christmas project. Our fabulous team have all created amazing cards to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment to pop on over and take a look and join us :-)

This did take some thinking through I must admit - I had a couple of ideas but realised the sets I had in mind were not specifically "Birthday"..... So I sat down with the Catalogue and these Cool Treats cone trees were the result.  How cool indeed are the Framelits that emboss as well as cut out the trees!

All the trees were stamped first - the Tranquil Tide ones were then embossed directly with the framelits and the LLT version was given a gold make over :-)

Card stock: Tranquil Tide, Lemon Lime Twist, Whisper White, Gold Foil
Ink: Tranquil Tide, Lemon Lime Twist
Stamps: Cool Treats, Santa's Sleigh
Accessories: Big Shot, Frozen Treats Framelits, Layering Circle Framelits, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Softly Falling EF, Burlap ribbon, Tranquil Tide Ribbon, Gold Ribbon (Sab), Metallic Sequins Assortment

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see all the fabulous inspiration the design team have made to inspire you and I look forward to seeing what you will create with this fun Twist Challenge too :-)

Happy stamping until next time,

Kylie's International Blog Highlight July 2017

Hello, happy Wednesday to you and welcome! This is my first time playing along as part of Kylie Bertucci's International Highlights with lovers of Stampin Up from all around the world. This month the theme is Gratitude inspired by Thailand. You can see the gallery on Kylie's blog here and if you feel inclined you can vote for me - the top 10 winners get to take part in a Blog Hop so it is another opportunity for fun and inspiration :-)

I believe that Kylie and many other Stampin Up Demo's will be in Thailand this week as part of Stampin Up's celebratory Incentive Trip . As a Hobby Demo, that's something that I can only dream of but I did find lots of lovely Thai inspiration on Pinterest :-) I wonder if Kylie and co will get to walk under these beautiful umbrellas in Chiang Mai?

Yes, these colours were my starting point :-) Instead of actually using umbrellas, I chose the Lovely Inside and Out bundle as these circular images remind me a little of fireworks and lights and therefore would also fit well for Thailand's Festival of Floating Lanterns :-)

It may be easier it see in the photo above that I created a peek through window to the inside. I used Ovals to cut the pieces - including the inked background which is then added along with the "Thanks" to the inside of the card. The space also allows the die cut sentiment to be seen amongst all the colour  - and adding a white version to the inside of the front of the card makes sure that everything stays neat and tidy :-)

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to Kylie's Blog and check out the fabulous gallery and vote for all of your favourites :-)

Card Stock: Tranquil Tide, Lemon Lime Twist, Whisper White, Basic Black, Gold Foil
Inks: Bermuda Bay, Lemon Lime Twist, Tranquil Tide, Pool Party, Berry Burst, Powder Pink, Perfect Peach. Momento Tuxedo Black, Versamark
Stamps: Lovely Inside and Out
Accessories: Big Shot, Lovely Words Thinlits, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Gold EP, Metallic Enamel Shapes

Happy stamping until next time,

Eclectic Number of Years for CTC #135

Happy Saturday and welcome :-) It's the middle weekend of School Holidays and it would seem that many have left town looking for warmer weather! Not that we blame them - with Winter in full swing a warm break would indeed be lovely.

Today's card is for the Caseing the Catty challenge that you can find on Facebook here and I have Cased the layout of the Christmas card in the background from page 118.

I kept the basic layout but changed some of the details as you can see to turn this into a Special Birthday card. I used leaves to create a wreath and instead of a white banner accoss the middle, it is placed towards the bottom of the card and there is an added Pink layer too :-)

These photos were taken seconds before a downpour of rain so please excuse the darker tones.

Card Stock: Melon Mambo, Whisper White, Emerald Envy, Copper Foil, Vellum
Designer Series Paper: Wood Textures Stack
Ink: Versamark
Stamps: Happy Birthday Gorgeous
Accessories: Big Shot, Large Number Framelits, Layering Circles Framelits, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Happy Birthday Thinlits, Eclectic Layers Thinlits, Copper EP, Fine Tip Glue Pen, Basic Rhinestones

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to Facebook and take a peek at the Caseing the Catty Challenge and there is still time for you to join in too :-)

Happy stamping until next time,

Shelter From The Storm JAI #367

Hello and welcome!! This week has seen the Winter chills and ills hit with a bit more vengeance as is usual for July. We have had some delightful sunny moments though so we can't complain :-)

Yes, it's Friday and time for a fun new challenge at Just Add Ink! This week we have an intriguing colour palate for you from Patrice. Three neutrals and a fabulous pop of colour that the design team have done a fantastic job with to inspire you as always so I hope you can take a moment to pop on over and join with us.

The colours this week seemed perfect for creating a stormy scene so that was my starting point. You may not be able to see that the umbrella handle is coloured with Crumb Cake ink so I added some Linen Thread as well. In true Melbourne form,  I had to duck out in between showers to take these photos so the rain theme was definitely on show!

Once the water coloured background and umbrella were all dry, I added some rain drops in the same direction as the brush strokes and to the umbrella using the Fine Tip Glue Pen. The aim with the rain drops is to allow a little "droplet" to form before lifting up and away in the direction you are wanting to get a tear shape. This was my first try at this technique and practice will make perfect as they say :-)

Card stock: Whisper White (thick and standard), Smoky Slate
Designer Series Paper: Fresh Florals
Inks: Smoky Slate, Lemon Lime Twist, Crumb Cake, Momento Tuxedo Black
Stamps: Weather Together
Accessories: Big Shot, Umbrella Weather Framelits, Linen Thread, Fine Tip Glue Pen, Aqua Painter

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see the fabulous inspiration from our lovely team and I look forward to seeing what you will create with this intriguing colour combo too!

Happy stamping until next time,

Jan
