Shining Light for JAI #348
Hello and happy Friday to you! It's hard to believe that we are in the last week of Summer already. Just where has the time gone? This season has seemed to be a mixture of hot and cooler days - very pleasant and I will be sad to see it end.
The new challenge this week at Just Add Ink was suggested by Rochelle and is one I know so many of you are going to love! Ombre colouring is so on trend at the moment and our lovely and talented design team have all made fabulous examples to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment to pop on over and join us.
This was my first play with this stamp and I wanted to make something with a masculine theme and created a stormy sky for this bold lighthouse. I think if I was to do it again, I'd do the sea in a lighter colour... I used Smoky Slate for the sky and used a sponge dauber to create the ombre effect. (I know, the sponge rollers are something I don't have yet but they are coming :-))
Once it was dry, the sea gulls were embossed in white and adds a little contrast to the darkest part of the sky. And some Wink of Stella flicked over things adds to the feeling of a rainy day.
This had the potential to be a one layer card, but that is something I find hard to leave, so stamped another lighthouse and added on dimensionals over the original one :-)
Card Stock: Island Indigo, Whisper White
Inks: Smoky Slate, Island Indigo, Watermelon Wonder, Crushed Curry, Sahara Sand, Momento Tuxedo Black, Versamark
Stamps: High Tide
Accessories: White EP, Clear Wink of Stella, Sponge Daubers
Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see all the fabulous cards our talented team have created to inspire you. And I look forward to seeing what you will create with this fun theme this week too!

Happiest Ice cream for JAI #347
Hello, happy Friday to you and welcome :-) This week has been full of beautiful days - not too hot during the day and cool enough to sleep at night. Perfect :-)
Talking of warm weather, we have a new challenge at Just Add Ink this week. Kim has suggested these rich and beautiful colours for us all to use. Our lovely team have created a fabulous array of cards to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment to pop on over and take a look and join us.
Here are the colours:
And here is my card:
Every so often, I struggle with a colour challenge and this was one of those times. Whilst I use Pear Pizzaz often, the other three colours I haven't used much at all recently and so it was a good challenge to push me out of my comfort zone :-)
And I could imagine the ice cream flavours for these colours so that was the beginning of this card.
One way to quickly and easily cut the "wonky" panel, is to use Rectangle Framelits. I cut the smaller one first and then drew around it onto the Purple layer and so lining up the angles was easy to do :-)
Card stock: Perfect Plum, Whisper White, Rose Red, Mint Macaron, Crumb Cake
DSP: Regals Stack
Inks: Perfect Plum, Rose Red, White Craft, Chocolate Chip
Stamps: Cool Treats, Sealed With Love
Accessories: Big Shot, Frozen Treats Framelits, Love Notes Framelits, Regals Enamel Shapes
Non SU: Stitched Rectangles - Simon Says Stamps
Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see the inspiration from our lovely team and I look forward to see what you will create with these fun colours this week too!
Happy stamping until next time,

Special Fish Birthday
Hello and happy Monday to you :-) Today's card is for another family member's birthday - we have so many this month and it's a challenge to keep up but we are getting there!
As the recipient for this one loves to go fishing, I knew I'd be using the now retired By the Tide stamp set. So what I needed was inspiration for a design and that's where Jen B's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches came in and the ideas began to flow....love that :-) It's been a while since I've had a moment to play and enter a challenge but FMS has long been a favourite so it is exciting to be able to be join in today and hopefully it won't be long til I'm back again.
Here is the sketch:
And here is my card:
Yes, this is a masculine birthday card that has pink on it!! That is because I've coloured the fish to be Rainbow Trout - a favourite of the recipient to catch and eat :-) The design idea was a version of the "spotlight" technique for the raised panel with the fish seeming to come from behind it. Hence the stamping of the seaweed...but now questioning whether a black layer behind it would've been better.
The silver 70 is run through an embossing folder before being added onto 3 layers of white card stock to give it height and strength to go through the mail.
The fish are coloured with Pencils and an Aqua Painter on ordinary White card stock - so just a tiny amount of water is used and then some Wink of Stella has been flicked over the background and 70's panel to add some water - like bubbles and sparkle.
Card stock: Basic Black, Whisper White, Silver Foil
Ink: Black Archival, Bermuda Bay, Versamark. Water color Pencils: Old Olive, Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay
Stamps: By the Tide (Retired), Sunshine Sayings
Accessories: Big Shot, Large Number Framelits, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Argyle EF (Retired),White EP, Metallic Enamel Shapes, Aqua Painter, Wink of Stella
Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to Freshly Made Sketches and join in the fun too!
Happy stamping until next time,

Rose Celebrations for JAI #346
Happy Friday folks and welcome :-) This week has been another hot one and whilst it's been hard to sleep lately, I'm sure we would be complaining if it wasn't a warm summer too :-) The summer veggies have been doing rather well and whilst it seems we are sharing a lot of the tomatoes with a huge, native Brush Tail Possum we've found keeping the Christmas lights up stops him coming down to ground level and finding other things so it's always pretty at night around here lol!
We have a fabulous new challenge for you at Just Add Ink this week. Nikki has suggested these images for us to use on our cards - just choose whichever two of the three you would like to use. Our lovely design team have all created amazing cards to inspire you again this week so I hope you can take a moment to pop on over and join us.
I started with the rose and created a rustic water coloured look using the new favourites, Watercolor Pencils. The penciling was all done first with the two colours and then was brought together with an Aqua painter. Next was the background. The "celebrate" co-ordinates with the new Happy Celebrations stamp set and to cover it with colour, I used the "grunge" image in the set and quickly stamped off the Pool Party ink before stamping over the word. But it seems the stamping off part was a bit uneven as you can see the variations in colour...but I kind of like the random look that it gives :-)
The sentiment banner looked a little lonely all on it's own so a couple of layers of ribbon underneath just gave it a lift and added some softness and sparkle along with the little butterfly. And the finishing touch was of course, a sprinkling of Wink of Stella and enamel dots as usual.
This is another one in the post already - so many family birthdays this time of year and it is a privilege to be able to send a card that includes the things we know the recipients like :-)
Card stock: Bermuda Bay, Whisper White, Basic Black, Silver Glimmer
Ink: Pool Party, Versamark. Watercolor Pencils: Old Olive, Bermuda Bay, Pacific Point
Stamps: Rose Wonder, Sunshine Sayings
Accessories: Big Shot, Celebrations Duo EF, Rose Garden Thinlits, Bitty Butterfly Punch, Aqua Painter, Wink of Stella, Burlap Ribbon, Metallic Ribbon Combo (Silver, SAB), Brights Enamel Dots, Basic Rhinestones.
Non SU: Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Card Stock (white)
Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see the fabulous projects our talented design team have made to inspire you and I look forward to seeing what you will create for this fun challenge too!
