Just Add Ink #539 Sunflower Border

Hi there and welcome to another Friday in paradise.đŸ˜„There is a sense of peace with many students returning to school this week. Another piece of "normality" returning as Covid restrictions continue to slowly ease here in Australia.

Also a sign of normality, it's time for our new challenge at Just Add Ink! This week Di Barnes has suggested this fun choose two out of these three creative elements to have as the star of your projects. Lots of variety in the choices by the design team this week to inspire you so I hope that you can pop on over and take a peek and join us!

It is mid -Summer here in the Australia- Pacific region and one lovely flower is the Sunflower. These beautiful big, flowers follow the sun on it's journey through the sky each day and is a wonderful reminder that we all can do our best each new day.

The image was embossed with the Shimmery Black EP and watercoloured using a Water brush. Then it was die cut along with some other elements from the set. The background is another of the pages of the gorgeous Oh So Ombre DSP Stack.
A border was created using the Stitched Rectangle framelits and the sentiment fussy cut to create a banner to complete this week's challenge elements.

Thanks for stopping by today and I look forward to seeing what you might create using Borders, Banners or Bows for this week's Just Add Ink challenge!

Just Add Ink #538 Perennial Birthday

It's Friday and this weekend marks the end of the Summer School Holidays with most of the kids going back middle of  next week after the Australia Day holiday. So many families and teachers are hoping that this year will be better than last year - and really don't we all!

And it's back to our regular format for us at Just Add Ink this week too. Thanks for joining us for out fun Blog Hop challenge last week! This week we have a clean and simple sketch for you from Patrice to spark your crafty projects. As always our lovely design team have created a fabulous array of examples to inspire you so I hope you can pop on over and hopefully join us.

For my card I used the new Pretty Perennials Bundle with some bright and cheery Summer inspired colours. These flowers remind me of Petunias - flowers that are more annuals than perennials but for me they are such a wonderfully bright, happy flower that is synonymous with Summer and I love to have a planter full of them each year.

As in my garden, I have surrounded the stamped flowers with white  to allow the colours to shine. The top left flower was stamped in Majenta and then a little Grapefruit was added before stamping to blend the two colours for a slight contrast with the card stock behind it.

For the white rectangles, I had intended to use the new Stitched with Whimsy Dies but I found these dies do not cut a shape around their stitched edge so the Rectangles came to the rescue. The "happy" was fussy cut and some jewels and Wink of Stella added.

Thanks for stopping by today and to all those that have left comments along the way - I love to hear from you! I hope you have a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see how the design team all used this sketch and I look forward to seeing what you will create too!

Card stock: Majenta Madness, Whisper White
Inks: Magenta Madness, Gorgeous Grape, Pineapple Punch, Granny Apple Green
Stamps: Pretty Perennials
Accessories, Die Cutting machine, Perennial Petals Dies, Rectangle Dies, In Colour 2018 (lipstick) enamel dots, Wink of Stella

Just Add Ink Blog Hop Challenge #537 Family!

Happy Friday and welcome everyone!! The festive holidays are over and the Summer is just starting to heat up here in Australia. So that must mean it's time to kick of the Just Add Ink Challenge year with a fun Blog Hop!!

For the first Just Add Ink challenge of 2021 we would like you to just add Family!
Over the last year it has been a time when family has been on our minds and hearts like no other. Spending time with, missing and worrying about family has been a huge thing for many. So this is a chance to create with family in mind and we hope that you will join us!!

And to inspire you, we have our annual JAI Design Team Blog Hop for you to enjoy and help get those creative juices going. You may have just arrived from the lovely Lou Kitzelman's  gorgeous project or you can start here and just click on the Next button at the end of each post. If you get lost along the way you can click on the Challenge graphic to be taken back to the JAI blog.

I have 3 gorgeous Niece's and one fab Nephew whose birthdays all fall in the first 4 months of the year and so January and February especially are full of family birthdays for us. This card is for one of the older girls - who all fall between 6 and about to be 10yrs.  I've used the Happy Dies as a basis for a fun shaker card. The only problem with using these dies to create a shaker card is that is cuts the portrait sides of the card stock. So you might be able to see where I carefully cut and added strips at the sides to hide the foam adhesive needed to contain the fun sprinkles.

There is one Saleabration item used on this card too. Can you find it? It might be a little difficult to tell but I've used a page of Bermuda Bay from the Oh So Ombre DSP stack behind the top white layer. The simple block colouring allows a great contrast for the pinks of the shaker sprinkles.

Next you are off to see the lovely Joanne Stubbings and her fabulous project that I am sure you will love!
I hope you enjoy all the design team's projects along the way and I look forward to see what family projects you are inspired to create for this challenge. If you get lost just click on the challenge graphic to go to the Challenge blog for a list of all the team.
