Just Add Ink #549 Choose Blooms

Hello and welcome!! Last weekend was the end of Daylight Savings here in Victoria and a sure sign that Summer is over. Except that the last few days we've still managed to have some 30 degree days!! That's pretty amazing for the second month of Autumn!! The sunshine has also been great for the garden.😊

Also great is this week's challenge at Just Add Ink! Kelly has given us Feathers, Leaves and Petals to Choose Two from to use as the focus of our projects. Our design team have created a lovely array of cards to inspire you so I hope that you can take a moment to pop on over and take a peek. We'd love you to join us!

So it is rather obvious that I chose Petals and Leaves!! The Bloom and Grow bundle is retiring and it is one of my favourites for colouring. Get it quickly before it is gone.

Here, I've coloured with Watercolour Pencils on Whisper White card and then a touch with the tip of an aquapainter (Water brush) brightens the colour. Then I went back in to add more colour with the pencils whilst the card was still damp. I find this method allows me to add more depth and shading. For the petals, I used Melon Mambo and Rich Razzleberry and for the leaves, a mixture of Old Olive and Bermuda Bay. You could easily use water colour paper for this but I was happy to use only a little water so WW card worked well.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you can pop on over to Just Add Ink and  I look forward to seeing which of the fabulous Two elements you choose to create with this week.

Card stock: Whisper White (thick and standard), Gold Foil, Berry Burst (retired), Just Jade
Inks: Versamark, Watercolour Pencils: Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive, Bermuda Bay
Stamps: Bloom and Grow, Well Worded - both sets retiring 😢
Accessories: Big Shot, Stitched Rectangle Dies, Stitched Shapes Dies, Well Written Dies (retiring), Ornate Frames dies, Budding Blooms Dies, White EP

'Til next time,

Just Add Ink #522 Bloom and Grow Sketch.

Happy Friday everyone!! I hope you are all enjoying the change of Season whichever that is for you. Here in Melbourne it is now Spring. The sun is really starting to shine with some warmth which makes our long weeks of lockdown a bit easier to bear when we can get out and walk and enjoy the lovely sunshine!

It's time for a new challenge week at Just Add Ink.  Patrice has designed this fun and cute Sketch for us all to use in our projects. You can use the sketch as it appears or flip it around to suit your project. Our design team have all created a variety of different styles and themes to inspire you and we'd love you to join us!

For my card I decided to use an image from the Bloom and And Grow set and die cut it to fill the three panels. I coloured the floral spray three times to fit the square dies and in doing so managed to lengthen the image too.

The Blooms are coloured with Blends and then they are popped up on to a piece of Just Jade Ribbon and topped with a single Flower sequin. 😊

I decided to lay my sentiment strip towards the bottom of and under the squares but generally within the sketch. Under the gold coloured Birthday are several Coral layers rather than white this time to add a little unexpected colour on close up viewing.

Card Stock: Pretty Peacock, Whisper White (thick and standard), Calypso Coral, Gold Foil
Inks: Momento Tuxedo Black, Versamark. Blends: Calypso Coral, Old Olive, Shaded Spruce, Cherry Cobbler
Stamps: Bloom And Grow, Well Said
Accessories: Die Cutting Machine, Subtles EF, Stitched Shapes Dies, Well Worded Dies,Poppy Moments Sequins, Just Jade ribbon

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you can take a moment to pop over to Just Add Ink and I look forward to seeing what you will be inspired to create with this fun sketch too.

Til next time,

Social Stamping - Families

Image may contain: text

Hello and welcome! We are hopping again over at Social Stamping where the lovely Kelly has set the theme of "Family." With everyone keeping Social Distancing regulations most of us are missing family catch ups and hugs. Tomorrow in Australia and New Zealand it is Mother's Day - one of the biggest family days of the years so instead of catching up in person maybe we can send some handmade love in the form of a card instead. No, it will never be the same but it is a good start.

You may have arrived here from the lovey Liz Gross and her stunning projects or you can start the hop here by clicking the Next button at the bottom of each blog post.

For my card I have not made a Mother's Day card,  instead I've made a card for one of my sisters. She has a beautiful garden full of flowers she can pick throughout the Summer months and so hopefully she will like this.

I am more of a Clean and Simple style lover rather than ornate and vintage so I tried to create a white on white look with the different frames around the bouquet to keep it fresh. Blends were used for colouring and a good splash of Wink Of Stella sparkle is one of the  finishing touches.

The sentiment panel was cut with the Stitched Rectangles - a set that compliments these ornate dies and it's trimmed down further by using the side of a longer rectangle to continue the stitched effect.
I've already decided I need to CASE myself here and just swap the Blue and Petal Pink flowers around -it is a good when just occasionally you can inspire yourself. 😁

Next you're off to see the fabulous projects that Michelle Strazds has created for you. Enjoy your hopping around the different blogs and I hope this encourages you to make a card for family members too!

JAI #503 Blooming Wonderful

Hello, happy Friday everyone and welcome! It's been another week in Stage 3 Isolation here in Victoria. The weather seems determined to deliver Winter-like conditions for the first day of May and so staying at home doesn't seem all that bad. It is a perfect excuse if needed to play along with our challenge if you are looking for one!

Image may contain: text

It's the start of a new challenge week at Just Add Ink and Nikki  has provided us with this fun Choose Two of - Stencils, Pencils or Patterned Paper. Try saying that a few times and see what a fabulous tongue twister it is!! The design team have created a beautiful array of designs to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment to pop on over and hopefully join us!

It was an easy choice for me as I have my Stencils still in storage but thankfully have both my Watercolor Pencils and some Patterned paper. So I used these to make a pink inspired birthday card.

An Easel card is great - has a bit of Wow when it stands up but still folds flat for posting which is important as all cards are being mailed rather than delivered these days.
I stamped the floral image on Whisper White card stock and coloured with Pencils before running over quickly with an Aqua Painter and then going back over areas to highlight with the pencil - if it dries before you're done, touching the pencil tip to the Aqua Painter tip will be enough to activate it.

Card stock: Basic Black, Melon Mambo, Vellum, Whisper White
DSP: Honey Bee Specialty
Inks: Momento Tuxedo Black, Versamark, Pencils: Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive
Stamps: Bloom and Grow
Accessories: Die Cutting Machine, White EP, Aqua Painter, Painted Poppies Sequins, Irridescent Sequins, Wink of Stella

JAI #475 Just Add...Piece of Cake

Happy Friday and welcome! The weather is starting to warm up and the days are getting longer...and the allergies are in full swing too. 😆

This week at Just Add Ink Kelly has a fun theme for us - she wants us to Just Add Food to our projects this week. So whether that is popcorn carrots, fruit or cake we would love to see what food you'd like to share with us this week! Our design team has pulled out all the food groups for you so we'd love to see what food you have hiding in your craft room ( on a card lol!)

This week I decided to go a bit rainbow coloured. The weather is warming up and I am thinking of Summer 😀 I used Distress Inks for the background and the sentiment from Bloom and Grow is embossed using the new Sparkle Black EP. It really has a fabulous shine! The cake images are coloured using Blends and Copics and then all covered with Clear Wink of Stella.

It's funny how pinks can show up slightly differently in different lights and that seems to be what is happening here.

Yes, it's bright and cheery but then so is the weather this week - first time we've hit 20 degrees since April 😀

Card stock: Whisper White
Inks: Versamark, Momento Tuxedo Black, Blends: Calypso Coral, Rococo Rose, Marina Mist, Blackberry Bliss, Lovely Lipstick
Stamps: Piece of Cake, Bloom and Grow
Accessories: Die Cutting Machine, Stitched Rectangle Dies, Cake Builder Punch, Sparkle Black EP
Non SU: Distress Inks (Picked Raspberry, Squeezed Lemonade), Sequins- Crystal Reflections by SSS

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you can pop on over to Just Add Ink and see all the fun and gorgeous cards from our design team and I look forward to seeing what food item you will make the main focus of your projects this week.

Happy stamping until next time!

Bloom and Grow for JAI #471

Hi folks and welcome! It's Friday and that means it's time for another fun challenge at Just Add Ink.

No photo description available.

This week's lovely Inspiration Photo with these beautiful yarns and colours was suggested by Rachael. You can take whatever appeals to you - be it the sense of stripes, the colours or the textures from the photo for your Inspiration for crafty fun this week. Our lovely design team have created a wonderful array of cards to encourage you so we'd love you to join us.

I was inspired by the Stripes of colour, the colours themselves and the sense of texture to create a card with a window this week.  The gorgeous Pretty Peacock base card was embossed with the Stripes EF before some Copper Trim was wrapped around centre of the Stitched Nested Label Die opening.

The beautiful Bloom and Grow images were coloured with a mixture of Blends and Copics before being smothered with some Wink of Stella.....and the sentiment was embossed in Copper for the inside. And this CAS card is ready already 😊

Card stock: Pretty Peacock, Whisper White
Inks: Versamark, Momento Tuxedo Black, Blends- Blackberry Bliss, Rococo Rose

Sympathy Blooms for JAI #463

Welcome back for another week of crafty inspiration. We've had a week of sad news, with a funeral to attend today and further loss and hospital admissions for friends. Heading into the craft room at such times can be difficult so that is where challenges can help kick start ideas to flow.

This week's Choose Two challenge at Just Add Ink is one I suggested so do hope you enjoy it! And I would love to see what you create by choosing Two of the Three embellishments - Foil, Ribbon or Sequins. The design team have plenty of gorgeous examples to inspire you so I hope you can pop over and join us.

Suggesting these embellies seemed easy and it was only when I sat down to create the challenge card that I realised it's because I tend to use all three on a lot of cards! So for this one it was a case of which one to leave off. With the Bloom and Grow set just arriving it became an easy choice with the flow of this lovely floral spray cancelling the need for a ribbon layer.

Everyone has their own view on what they like to create for a Sympathy card. I am not averse to adding a little colour as I see the card's job is to provide a little comfort in a time sad enough. But I do try not to over complicate them.

Here, I've kept the design CAS, just the floral spray coloured with Copics and Blends, a simple textured background and foil sentiment popped up on layers of Smoky Slate. Plus the sprinkling of silver and copper sequins as per the challenge.

Card Stock: Night of Navy, Smoky Slate, Whisper White, Silver Foil
Ink: Versamark, Momento Tuxedo Black, Blends: Old Olive, Basic Black and Navy combos
Stamps: Bloom and Grow, Well Said
Accessories: Die Cutting Machine, Budding Blooms Dies, Well Written Dies, Pinewood Planks 3D EF, White EP, Metallic Sequins Assortment (retired).

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you can pop by Just Add Ink and see all the inspiration from the rest of the team and I'd love to see which of these three embellishments you like to choose!

Happy stamping until next time,

Jan
