JAI #476 Beautiful Day

Hello everyone and welcome! The year is speeding by and it is amazing to think that Spring is almost one third down already. The days are starting to warm up, the birds and animals are nesting and the flowers are beginning to bloom!

Image may contain: flower and nature

Talking of flowers blooming...This week at Just Add Ink, we have this beautiful sea of tulips to inspire our crafting from Lou! You can take whatever catches your eye from the above photo - the mass of florals, the textures, stripes or colours to create your project. The design team have made a fabulous display too so I hope you can pop on over to the challenge blog and take a peek.

For my card, I used the colours to create another Spring loving creature - a butterfly! For the design I was inspired by Janneke de Jong's cropped butterfly and decided to do a rare CASE. (Copy Share and Edit)
Just because it is a CASE, it doesn't mean you can't add your own twist on it and that's what I did here.
The butterfly is embossed using my new favourite - Shimmer Black EP - it has quite a sparkle IRL!
And I then used a combination of Blends and Copics to colour him in the photo colours before fussy cutting him - yes including those fun feelers πŸ˜€

Be careful when using pens to colour that the embossing is fully set as the nibs could pick up any loose powder left behind
In the background of the flowers,  I noticed the green leaves of the trees and so added a few scattered spots that are also in the stamp set around the butterfly.
This mix of stamped and metallic die cut sentiment (layered with white) is also a favourite technique now - and I hope this set stays for a long time πŸ˜€

Card stock: Whisper White, Shaded Spruce, Copper Foil
Inks: Versamark, Shaded Spruce
Blends: Blackberry Bliss (dark), Rich Razzleberry (light)
Stamps: Beautiful Day, Well Said
Accessories: Big Shot, Well Worded dies, White EP, Shimmer Black EP, Metallic Sequins (retired)
Non SU: Copics Y06 and Y08

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see all the lovely cards our team have created to inspire you and I look forward to seeing what you will create with this beautiful floral sea Photo inspiration.

Happy stamping until next time,

Amazing You for JAI #424

Hello and welcome 😊The days are flying by in our household with a new puppy to get to know and grow to love. Sally (Junior), a 15 month old black Labrador was chosen for us 2 weeks ago as a Companion Dog by Guide Dogs Victoria. She has taken no time at all to realise that I need her help occasionally and soon she will be ale able to accompany me when needed in public. Such as for On Stage local - here in Melbourne in November 😊Spring is only a day away, and thanks to young Sally, a new lease on life is coming for me too!

And it's also time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink! This week, Di has suggested that we Just Add....Texture to our projects. There are many ways to add texture - embossing paste, glitter, die cuts and layers. Our lovely design team have created fabulous projects to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment to pop on over and see and we'd love you to join us!

For my card this week, I went with layers, die cuts and embossing. The floral image from Beautiful Day was water coloured x3 and fussy cut and layered with dimensionals.

Underneath the flower,  are several more layers - some pretty metallic DSP,  the diamond panel die cut from the Eclectic layers and some Gold Foil and Organza ribbon.

Adding to the texture this week, is the Subtle embossing folder - so subtle in fact that it's very hard to see! And some black layers underneath the amazing die cut as well as the white embossed You finish the textural details.

Card stock: Basic Black, Lovely Lipstick, Gold foil,
Designer Series Paper: Springtime Foils (Saleabration 2018)
Inks: Lovely Lipstick, Pear Pizazz, Garden Green, Black Stazon
Stamps: Beautiful Day, Amazing You (Saleabration 2018)
Accessories: Big Shot, Celebrate You Thinlits, White EP, White Organza Ribbon, Gold Faceted Gems

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see what our fabulous design team have created to inspire you and I look forward to seeing what you will create for this fun challenge!

So Sally is the name she came with from Guide Dogs....of course it is also the name of my previously much loved black Lab that passed away in March. We won't change her name as having come from GD's her name was always going to be special...so we decided to change her collar and lead colour from red to Pink. The harness came first - and we couldn't not choose Melon Mambo, and finding a collar to match was easy. It is covered in diamantes which for some reason means the song "Lucy in the sky with diamonds" just won't go away" She could be a Lucy I guess, but Sally Jr has so many similarities to her namesake that it just seems meant to be 😊

More Berry Birthdays

Welcome to the weekend :-) I hope you're enjoying the change of Seasons and able to spend some time getting creative in your down time. After finishing my card for this week's Just Add Ink  colour challenge (which you can see here) I had a couple of coloured flowers on my desk so I decided to make them up into similar cards.

I'm not usually a big user of neutral colours but I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked using Sahara Sand for the JAI colour challenge so I carried the idea and layout through to these cards.

Yes, it's even the same layout with a couple of changes - some Emerald Envy and Tranquil tide leaves from Oh So Eclectic replace the vellum.

And the Layered Leaves EF for the background gives some subtle dimension.

This silver embossed version has a Smoky Slate base and clear gem centre.

Card stock: Smoky Slate, Sahara Sand, Berry Burst, Whisper White
Inks: Versamark, Berry Burst, Emerald Envy, Tranquil Tide
Stamps: Beautiful Day, Oh So Eclectic
Accessories: Big Shot, Eclectic  Layers Thinlits, Layered Leaves Dynamic EF, Gold and White EP, Basic Rhinestones, Faceted Gems (Gold and Clear)

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope this inspires you to step outside your comfort zone and use some colours that you don't usually use and just maybe, you too might find you like them more than you expected :-)

Happy stamping until next time,

Berry Happy Birthday for JAI #398

Wow, the first week of March is here already - Happy Autumn (or Spring if you're visiting from the Northern Hemisphere). It's hard to believe that it's time for Summer to end - February wasn't quite as hot as usual but we've had a few crisp mornings lately so it does feel like there's change in the air.

It's also time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week we have a gorgeous Colour challenge suggested by Patrice. Our talented and lovely design team have all made fabulous projects to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment and pop on over and join us :-)

Yes, I'm a pink lover and Berry Burst is my favourite colour to stamp with after Melon Mambo :-) However , I'm not usually a user of Crumb Cake and the like ( I know, ducking for cover!) so this pretty combo threw me a little initially. But after I decided to water colour the flower image from Beautiful Day everything finally came together.

For the background I used the gorgeous Shimmery White embossing paste with some drops of Sahara Sand Re-inker added.  Using a Silicone Craft Sheet as a palette makes it easy to mix the colour through before using the stencil and taping the card stock down to a board reduces warping.
As there are no greens for leaves in the colours, I cut off the leaf from the image and die cut some vellum leaves using the Eclectic Layers Framelits.

So lots of sparkle and shine!! Funnily enough I found the neutral colour wasn't quite as scary as I had first thought so how good is that!! So much so that I have a couple more cards to show you in a couple of days :-)

Card stock: Sahara Sand, Whisper White, Berry Burst, Vellum
Inks: Versamark, Berry Burst, Sahara Sand (Reinker)
Stamps: Beautiful Day
Accessories: Big Shot, Eclectic Layers Thinlits, Pattern Party Decorative Masks, Shimmery White Embossing Paste, Gold EP, White EP, Aqua Painter, Basic Rhinestones
Non SU: Watercolor paper- Tim Holtz Distress watercolor card stock

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can pop over to Just Add Ink and see all the beautiful cards our lovely team have made to inspire you and I look forward to seeing what you will create with these pretty colours too!

Happy stamping until next time,

Beautiful Day for JAI #388

Happy Friday and welcome! This week has gone very quickly and after several days of very hot weather we are in for a weekend of very heavy rain. Such an incredible start to Summer!

And it's time for our new challenge at Just Add Ink this week Rochelle  has asked us to Just Add...Glitter! Such a versatile product, the shimmer and shine from glitter brings so much joy wherever it goes. Our lovely design team have as always created a beautiful variety of projects to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment to pop on over enjoy and maybe join us.

For my card, I've used one of the images from the new Beautiful Day set, soon to be available in the Occaisions Catalogue. I stamped the images in Versamark before Night of Navy  and Garden Green inks so that I could Clear emboss them. Next I water coloured them using an Aqua Painter and ink pads and when dry, went over the edges with clear Wink of Stella and added a glimmer paper background for the glitter elements.

It's a little difficult to see the Wink as here it looks more white. You may be able to see it better in the top photo :-)

Card stock: Whisper White Thick and Standard, Silver Glimmer, Night of Navy
Inks: Night of Navy, Garden Green, Tempting Turquoise, Lemon Lime Twist
Stamps: Beautiful Day (Occasions Catalogue)
Accessories: Brights Sequins, Iridescence Sequins, Big Shot, Stitched Circle Framelits, Layeriing Circle Framelits

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and I look forward to seeing what you will create with this fun product too!!

Happy stamping until next time,
