It's Your Day for JAI #379

Happy Friday and welcome! The best time of year is just about to start - Daylight Savings starts this weekend here in Australia!! In Melbourne, Spring still seems to be of two minds whether it is staying or not. We've had one or 2 days of warmish sunshine but the mornings are definitely lighter that's for sure :-)

This week at Just Add Ink we have a fabulous Inspiration Photo for us all to use in our projects, suggested by Kelly. It is full of the joy of Summer and you can use whatever details from it that inspires you. It could be the colours, the shapes, and of course the drinks theme. Our lovely design team have created such a great variety of projects to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment to pop on over and take a look and maybe join us :-)

As soon as I saw the photo, I knew I wanted to go with the strawberry punch idea and put it in a Mason Jar which is so popular at kids parties these days. As I don't own the Sharing the Sweet Treats stamp set yet,  it involved using a combination of stamps to get a similar effect - Jar of Love and the strawberries are from Cool Treats. Of course the jar needed a copper lid, and vellum creates a realistic looking straw - using the Coffee Cafe framelits.

This background is another "smooshing" watercolour - this time only using the one colour. And as it looks as thought there are a few splashes, it also inspired the fun sentiment :-)

Card stock: Tranquil Tide, Whisper White, Vellum

Happy Daisy Birthday for JAI #378

Happy Friday everyone and welcome :-) This week has really seemed to fly. We have had brief sightings of the sun but Spring seems to be still coming...maybe by next week :-)

This week at Just Add Ink, Di has challenged us to Just Add Texture to our cards. There are many ways in which you can add texture - embossing paste, embossing folders, 3D elements and much more. There are so many choices and our lovely team have created a great variety so inspire you so I hope you can take a look and join us.

I have a whole heap of birthdays coming up so it was the ideal time to make another feminine birthday card. For texture, I've added some woodgrain, embossing paste and powder, ribbon, 3D punched items, sequins...yes I had a bit of a field day :-)

The whiteness of the Embossing Paste allows it to add texture without it taking over the whole background.

This one actually came together in a bit of a hurry as I had made another card for this challenge and then during a late Pinterest search I came across a card so similar to the one I'd just made it looked as though I had Cased it so I went back into the craft room and this was the result.

You can see the original card I made below and the one it looks like I Cased here. We are many of us all creating using the same products so I guess it happens that people on two different sides of the world come up with the same card - good taste you might say - but it was a big surprise! I was trying to think out of the box by adding scoring instead of Paste....Vicki must've had a similar thought :-)

Card stock: Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi
Designer Series Paper: Woodgrain Stack
Ink: Versamark, Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi
Stamps: Daisy Delight, Happy Birthday Gorgeous
Access: Daisy Punch, Embossing Paste, Gold EP, Burlap Ribbon, Metallic Sequin Assortment, Gold Faceted Gems

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see all the fabulous inspiration from our lovey design team and I look forward to see what you will create with this fun theme too!

Happy stamping until next time,

Kylie's International Project Highlights September 2017

Hello, happy Wednesday to you and welcome! This is my second time playing along as part of Kylie Bertucci's International Highlights with lovers of Stampin Up from all around the world. This month the theme is Sympathy You can see the gallery on Kylie's blog here and if you feel inclined you can vote for me - the top 10 winners get to take part in a Blog Hop so it is another opportunity for inspiration :-)

It is a really sad time when our friends and family lose someone they love. Being able to let them know that we are thinking of them and have taken time to make them a special card is a privilege to be able to do.

It is always much easier to make a card for any occasion when you have a recipient in mind - even Sympathy cards. Knowing the person and family involved and what they like makes for a personalised card that hopefully will bring some comfort. Sadly, this card will soon be needed- to celebrate a very lovely family friend who amongst other things has sent me many cards over the years. Pink is a family favourite colour and the beautiful Rose Wonder seemed the perfect image to colour.

The image from Rose Wonder was White embossed onto Water color paper and then coloured using an Aqua Painter and Ink Pads. Then it was added over the pretty texture of the Layered Leaves embossing folder. I really wanted to keep this soft and clean but it needed a little bling to the rose centre and I couldn't resist this pretty gem :-)

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to Kylie's Blog and check out the fabulous gallery and vote for all of your favourites :-)

Card stock: Whisper White (thick and standard), Watercolor Paper, Gold Foil
Inks: Powder Pink, Pear Pizzaz, Garden Green, Versamark
Stamps: Rose Wonder
Accessories: Big Shot, Rose Garden Thinlits, Layered Leaves Dynamic EF, Gold EP, Gold Faceted Gems, Subtle Enamel Shapes.

Happy Birthday for JAI #377

Happy Friday and welcome :-) Whilst we are hoping to soon shake off the last of the Winter weather here in Australia, our thoughts are with all those affected by Cyclone Irma and hoping that everyone gets the help they need during the long recovery and rebuilding process ahead.

This week at Just Add Ink  we have a lovely and fresh colour combo suggested for us by Rochelle. As always our lovely design team have created truly beautiful cards to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment and pop on over and take a look and we'd love you to join us :-)

These colours seemed so Spring inspired to me so I opted to go floral. This combination of stamp and die cut is one of my favourites from the new Catalogue and I really enjoyed working with it in these colours.
I started with 'smooshing" a water colour background.  I usually use an Aqua Painter for backgrounds as feel I have more control over it but it's good to give yourself an extra challenge :-)

Everyone has their own way of "smooshing". I use a 10x10cm piece of acetate and add a SMALL amount of ink to it direct from ink pads, spray that with water and then literally drag it over the paper. A few finger flicks from behind creates the little splotches. And having a paper towel handy to mop up any pooling water would be my best tip :-)

Card stock: Lemon Lime Twist, Whisper White, Silver Glimmer
Inks: Pool Party, Dapper Denim, Lemon Lime Twist
Stamps: Daisy Delight
Accessories: Big Shot, Happy Birthday Thinlit, Daisy Punch, Clear Wink of Stella, White organza Ribbon, Mini Silver Sequins, Metallic Sequin assortment
Non SU: Water Color Card Stock (TH)

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see all the fabulous inspiration from the rest of the team and I look forward to seeing what you will create with these fresh and pretty colours too.

Happy stamping until next time,

Just Add D....JAI #376

Happy Friday to you and welcome! The last week seems to have gone very quickly. Most of my time including most nights I have been busy caring for Sally the Lab whose health continues to go in a 2 steps forward and 1 back trend. Between the two of us we've been at the Drs or vets almost every day this week....it's been full on! However, I am glad to report that after a lot of medication tweaking she is moving mostly forwards now :-) She had a CT Scan 2 weeks ago that revealed a surprise benign brain tumour. So far she is unaffected by it and her main issue remains a larynx/breathing one.

So this week's new challenge at Just Add Ink suggested by Tina seems to be perfectly timed for us. :-) Our lovely design team have created really gorgeous cards with many "D" subjects to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment to pop on over and we'd love you to join us.
For me ..."D" is for dog of course :-) For years, a good friend has been asking me to scrap book Sally's adventures and the time has come to follow through so here are two seperate Doggy Days....

For this page, I used some retired Project life cards to document a fun afternoon.
I was holding a Stamp & Chat afternoon and we all came wearing the same so we decided to get a quick photo of the three "stamping sisters". Of course, there is no show without Sally - who took full advantage of us sitting at her level to land her favourite trademark - a lightening quick kiss on the lips.

I have never really done much scrap booking but the PL cards make it easy and I added stickers from the pack and also used the Little Letters dies,  and buttons and sequins as accents too.

Page 2 goes on to show that Sal was very pleased with herself and keen to try and catch the rest of us as well :-)

The second set of pages document a recent Winter get away to Daylesford (another D!) where we again caught up with stamping friends! We stayed at a lovely Dog friendly home called Nest and we always enjoyed a morning walk around the Lake...and on our first night,  dinner at the acclaimed Lake House restaurant too.

For these pages, I've used the gorgeous Hello Lovely PL set from last year.

And the orange flower theme is also reflected in the jacket I'm wearing here :-)

We enjoyed exploring local attractions and on this occasions the stamping friends caught up for lunch too!

These pages were much easier to create than I expected them to be - the card set work well with the colours in these photos and make embellishment easy.

And certainly the days are memorable - funnily enough Sally wasn't interested in the large gorilla in Trentham at all. Obviously too clever to think it might be real :-)

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see the rest of the inspiration from our lovely team and I look forward to seeing how the letter "D" inspires your projects this week.

Happy stamping until next time

You're So Lovely....JAI #375

Happy Spring/ Fall everyone and welcome :-) Here in Melbourne the pretty pink and white cherry trees are starting to blossom and the bright Spring bulbs are blooming. After the cool and grey colours that Winter brought it is such a delight to see the colours begin to pop and the leaves begin to grow again. The warmth of Summer is a coming :-)

It's also time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink! This week we have this fabulous CAS (Clean and Simple) Sketch from Kim. As always, our lovely design team have created gorgeous projects to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment to pop on over and we'd love to see you join us.

I had a lot of different ideas when I first saw this sketch but I kept coming back to flowers - maybe it was the influence of Spring :-) and that led me to flip the sketch to use it vertically. The new In Colours are so elegant and fresh - I have used three of them here, Powder Pink in the Embossing Paste background as well as the main flower, Berry Burst and of course a pinch of the ever vibrant, Lemon Lime Twist.

Some Navy and gold touches, a little vellum and a sprinkling of the gorgeous new Iridescent Sequins and this little number is ready to post :-)

The sentiment is embossed in White and then shaped using paper snips.

Card stock: Night of Navy, Whisper White (thick and standard), Berry Burst, Vellum, Gold Foil
Designer Series Paper: Naturally Eclectic
