Be the Star PCCCSC #157

Welcome back for another wonderful Wednesday! Today we were supposed to have a whole lot of showers and cloud so it was wonderful to see the sun for a few hours and get out and get a few pre Spring gardening jobs done! The days are definitely getting longer and it's not long now til we will be enjoying those long summer evenings again :-)

And it's time for another sketch from The Paper Craft Crew. The Team have created a grab variety of cards to inspire you with many different themes so I hope you can take a moment to pop on over and have a look. :-)

Here is the sketch:

Lots of elements here :-)

And here's my card:

Yes, another male card :-) Am on a bit of a roll! It's been a while since I've used the Be the Star stamp set and I also wanted to use some of the fun School house DSP and this was the result! Now there s one little "sneak peek" item from the new Holiday Catalogue here as well. Can you see it? Yes! It is the new Gold Cord Trim - I just love it, a little thicker than the Metallic Thread and a little easier to handle but still thin enough to coil around and has a lovely shimmer :-)

Card stock: Island Indigo, Basic Grey, Pool Party, Whisper White, Gold Foil
Designer Series Paper: Schoolhouse
Inks: Island Indigo, Versamark
Stamps: Be the Star
Access: Big Shot, Circle Framelits, Stars Framelits, Stars EF, Gold EP, Gold Cord Trim ( Sneak Peek), Metallic Sequin Assortment.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to The Paper Craft Crew and see the lovely inspiration from the Team this week and I look forward to seeing what you will create with this sketch too!

Happy stamping until next time,

Be the Star for The Paper Craft Crew

This morning it was a little chilly but the sun was shining and it was looking like another stunning Autumn's day….then around 2pm the clouds rolled in and now (just on School pick up time - eek!)  the heavens have opened and it is pouring!! Dark AND chilly again - another classic Melbourne "Four Seasons in One Day"….there's even a song about it :-)

So is a good time to share with you this week's sketch at The Paper Crew! The Team as always have created a great variety of cards to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment and pop on over and have a look.

And without further ado…here is the sketch:

And I've only just noticed that I must have have picked up on the colours in the sketch drawing as well - that wasn't planned but :-)

I started with a shape for the circles on the right - and once I'd decided on stars the next choice was which colours and DSP to use. The Moonlight DSP Stack has so many great combos and is probably the most used of all my DSP's this last year. And I am not really a yellow person but I do like this shade - Crushed Curry  - and how well it goes with Lost Lagoon :-)

Card stock: Lost Lagoon, Whisper White, Silver Glimmer
Designer Series Paper: Moonlight Stack
Inks: Crushed Curry, Lost Lagoon
Stamps: Be the Star
Accessories: Big Shot, Stars Framelits, Circle Framelits, In Colour Sequins, Sweet Dreams Designer Washi, Saleabration Twine Pack (2014),

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a moment to pop on over to The Paper Craft Crew and see what the Team have created to inspire you this week and I look forward to seeing what you will create with this sketch this week.

Happy stamping until next time,

Be The Star

Today's card is a special one for a special young friend's birthday! Natalie first started accompanying her mother to card making workshops when she was 6 years old - and now is turning 11!! Where has the time gone?!  She has become such a bubbly and full of life  young person and whilst card making is maybe not her number one hobby currently, she still shows her wonderful creativity in her scrap booking,  dancing and her love of singing and music. She is indeed a bright little star :-)

So Happy Birthday Natalie - this one is for you :-)

Of course I do know that "Purple" is her favourite colour so the decision to make was which one to use as we have so many lovely varieties  so eventually went with the newest and current favourite :-)

To make the Shaker element I used the Star Framelits and our Shaker Frames - and yes, these come in circles! However, I've found in the past that if you cut the circle frame you can then mould it into any shape you like. This large star needed a couple of Frames and because they are the same width and height, they provide an easy uniformity when joined together.
However, they are higher than our other foam adhesive, the dimensionals - so in order to allow the whole card front to be flat and appear seamless, I  cut a co-ordinating star from the Gold layer underneath so the Blackberry layer can sit above on dimensionals and not look "lumpy" :-)
The gold star inside is stamped in Encore Gold ink - to allow the Be the Star to sit over the top  and these images as well as the background stars are all part of the fun Be The Star stamp set - I love how versatile it is! And inside? A mixture of leftover sequins from the Perpetual Calendar Kit and the fun In Colour Sequins - several stars amid the mixture of course :-)

For the greeting I used the Crazy For You stamp set and gold embossing powder to match the wonderful gold  "happy" cut with the co-ordinating Hello You Framelits.

Card stock: Blackberry Bliss, Brushed Gold, Gold Foil, Whisper White
Inks: Encore Gold, Blackberry Bliss, Versamark
Stamps: Be The Star, Crazy For You
Accessories: Big Shot, Star Framelits, Hello You Framelits, Shaker Frames, Gold EP, In Colour Sequins, Perpetual Calendar Kit, Gold Sequin Trim, Hexagon Punch, Window Sheets

Thanks for stopping by today! And one more little announcement! My good friend Louise is participating in the Creative Blog Hop today so do take a moment to pop on over and see her always gorgeous creations and say "hi" :-)

Happy stamping until next time.

Stars shaker card

Last week I made a special card for my good friend Katerina's husband's birthday. He is a real star and this is a one of those "round birthdays" :-) And so the perfect thing to do was make a star card! And to make it extra special, I also made it into a Shaker card :-)

The card base is Lost Lagoon card stamped with the little stars from the Be the Star stamp set. I love this set! It is so versatile! Next I used the Star framelits to create the layers - some Silver Foil card, the Hello Honey stripes from the Moonlight DSP stack, another stamped star from the same stamp set and then some Window sheet to create the Shaker. To line the stars up to cut the Base card I used a pencil to draw around the inside of the star to give a template to place the framelit. The Window sheet is cut twice - once for each side of the card as I wanted the window to show through to the message  - and is cut a little larger than the seen window.

The shaker stars were easy to create using the Confetti Stars Punch from the Holiday Mini Catalogue - so cool! Just punched a few stars from all three colours of card used :-) The Numbers are from the long retired "Timeless Type Alphabet sizzlit dies but still so handy!

And because of the hole all the way through from the front, the inside also needed a little finishing too :-)

Card stock: Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey, Whisper White, Silver Foil
Designer Series Paper: Moonlight Stack
Inks: Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey
Stamps: Be the Star
Accessories: Big Shot, Stars Framelits, Confetti Stars punch, Window Sheet, Timeless Type Sizzlits (Retired)

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a great day and a star filled night wherever you are tonight :-)

Happy stamping until next time,

Jan

Starry Day

Welcome to another mild Winter's day in Melbourne! A pleasant 16 degrees and patches of sunshine  - even nicer than was forecast! Today was a special day for me - a favourite Aunt is visiting and we went into the city and enjoyed a special light lunch before going to a Matinee performance of The King And I. We were treated to fine food and the show was magnificent! Wonderful Cast ( and we did get the A Cast despite it being a Matinee) fabulous voices and dancing! Wow! Such a wonderful day!
So I am very glad I had prepared ahead for you the card for this week's sketch at The Paper Craft Crew! So here is the sketch:

Such a fun sketch! And so versatile too! I hope you have time to check out the great cards by the Design Team this week :-)

Here is my card:

So stars :-) This sketch would be great for a Christmas card but I wanted to ink up my new stamp set Be The Star -  and with the Framelits and Moonlight DSP Stack this all came together quite quickly :-) To get the variant colours of the paper all I did was turn over the piece of paper! And then I opened the In Colour Sequins only to find the Lost Lagoon sequins were stars - perfect!

Card stock: Lost Lagoon, Whisper White, Silver Foil Specialty
Designer Series Paper: Moonlight DSP Stack
Inks: Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey
Stamps: Be The Star
Accessories: Big Shot, Star Framelits, Hexagon punch, In Colour Sequins

Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you have time some to check out the rest of the cards by the Design Team at the Paper Craft Crew and maybe you might be inspired to join us this week too! And if you like a musical and are in Australia in the near future then I would highly reccomend seeing The King And I too :-)

Happy stamping until next time,
