Wedding for The Paper Craft Crew

This Wednesday it is so nice to see the sun after several days of grey skies. It certainly does feel more like Winter than Autumn that is for sure but it is amazing the difference that a sunny day can make! Sally (the Lab) was so keen on getting out on our walk on time today and we both had a lovely time at the Park although the frost was still visible on the grass that was in the shade.

And as it is Wednesday it is also time for a new sketch from The Paper Craft Crew. The Design Team have created a great variety of cards to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment to pop on over and take a look.

Here is this week's sketch:

And here is what I made with it :-)

Yes, it's a wedding card - for a very good friend in New Zealand who got married on ANZAC Day :-)
The gown was a stunning shoulder less and figure hugging gold satin covered in cream lace flowers which this DSP reminds me of. And pink has always been a favourite colour and the bridesmaids wore a slightly lighter shade than the hearts here but of a similar tone. I wish I could share some photos with you - but not quite yet :-)

Card stock: Brushed Gold, Gold Glimmer Paper, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Something Borrowed
Inks: Versamark, Blushing Bride
Stamps: For The New Two, Hearts a Flutter (Retiring)
Accessories: Big Shot, Starbursts Framelits (retiring),Hearts a Flutter Framelits (Retiring), Hexagon Punch, White EP, Vanilla Flower Trim, Basic Pearls

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a moment to pop on over to The Paper Craft Crew and see all the cards the Team have made to inspire you. And for all those off to Convention this weekend I hope you have a wonderful time sharing with friends old and new and playing with some fun new toys too!

Happy stamping until next time,

Just Add Ink # 250

Today in Melbourne we have been enjoying the cool change after the heat yesterday - and although it will be short lived apparently, it has been very welcome!

Now this week at Just Add Ink we have an awesome Photo for the Challenge inspiration. So there are many different directions you can take this I think :-) The Design Team have made some wonderful projects to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment to pop on over and have a look.

It will be no surprise to some that Pink is one of my favourite colours  - and I do love the polka dots here too ( so pretty!!) And did you notice the little pop of multicoloured DSP in the background?

Here is my card:

Yes, I chose to use some dotty DSP - this one is part of the Best Year Ever pack available for FREE during Saleabration. I love how fresh it looks and that it could easily work as some "sky" for a balloon or 2 :-)
It was such fun to team the new DSP and Balloon stamp and framelits with the much loved Hearts A Flutter stamp set that has been around a little longer. Some pink and silver hearts, and a little twine to connect the balloons with the word "you"and the card is ready to take flight!

Card stock: Strawberry Slush, Whisper White, Silver Glimmer
Designer Series Paper: Best Year Ever
Inks: Pink Pirouette, Strawberry Slush
Stamps: Celebrate Today, Hearts A Flutter
Accessories: Big Shot, Balloon Framelits, Hearts a Flutter Framelits, Hello You Framelits, White Bakers Twine, Basic Rhinestones

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a moment to pop over to Just Add Ink to see the wonderful projects the Team have made to inspire you this week - and I look forward to seeing what you create for this challenge too :-)

Happy stamping until next time,

Pop - Up Castle Card

I know its been a few days between cards so sorry about that but hopefully today's card will make up for it - and yes it did take me 3 days to make!!
The Outside of the card is just a hint as to the contents of the Inside (more on that later!) and is inspired by two challenges. My first double challenge card of the year!
The lovely sketch is from the great team at Freshly Made Sketches.
And the theme of a Birthday card and to use some Twine is from another fabulous team: The Friday Mashup

Here I have used a medley of stamps and dies - some current, some Retired  and some are a sneak peek as to some of the free items going to be available during Saleabration later this month and we are ALL looking forward to that aren't we :-)

The crown is an old favourite from Artistic Etchings and here is Silver Embossed and filled with Rhinestones. The 3 is also a retired Die and have used some Crystal Effects to give it that extra shine. The hearts are all stamped from Hearts a Flutter and the large are cut with the co-ordinating framelits while the smaller is punched using a retired 3 heart punch. The sentiment is from Create a Cupcake. And yes,  I did have fun lining up all the chevrons :-)

Card stock: Melon Mambo, Whisper White
Ink: Melon Mambo, Pink Pirouette (retired), Versamark
Stamps: Artistic Etchings, Positively Chevron, Hearts a Flutter, Create a Cupcake
Accessories: Big Shot, Decorative Dots EF,*  Hearts a Flutter Framelits, Timeless Type Alphabet Die, 3 Heart Punch, Crystal Effects, Basic Rhinestones, White Bakers Twine

Now, I hear you ask that isn't this a bit demure for a 3 year old's card? Where are all the banners and fun things?? Well, this time they are on the INSIDE :-)

I found a basic pop up Castle template at Robertsabudas.com and printed it out on different coloured card stock before embellishing to the Max.

There are three tiers that pop up. And I suggest that if you are wanting to attempt to this then do print out a practice template first to work it out. Once you see how it goes together it is easier to see where you can embellish.
Here you can see the workings of the card. The white base has been covered with some DSP with holes cut for the moveable parts ( a job in itself!!) The Flag banner was another little addition - from the Hostess Banner Greetings set and is added to a Tooth pick with glue dots. The little Flowers on the sides here are actually to hide where a cut was made in the DSP to slide under and through the glued workings! Similar cuts were made in bottom piece but were to the back of the card and fortunately not visible. And yes, next time will do this BEFORE glueing!!!
So all the panels were given the EF treatment and the above doorway arch is made using the Wide Oval and Word Window punches. The tower tops all were given some border punched turrets and heaps of Rhinestones. To make the flowers I first stamped using one of the hearts in the Hearts a flutter stamp set and punched out with the Bitty punch pack. The hearts are punched and Die Cut the same way as those on the front. The DSP is retired and am pleased to be using up some of my old stock to make room for some new ones soon!! The base of the Pop Up is adhered to the Card base using Sticky Strip. The Castle pieces are adhered using Tombow Glue.

As my Niece lives overseas I have decided to use a Talking Tag so she can hear the message  - and no great need for lots of room to write inside! Yes, its a bit over the top but you're only 3 once after all :-)

Card stock: Whisper White, Pink Pirouette, Melon Mambo.
Ink: Melon mambo, Pink Pirouette,
Stamps: Hearts a Flutter, Banner Greetings (Hostess)
Accessories: Big Shot, Lattice EF, Decorative Dots EF*, Itty Bitty Shapes pack, Scallop Trim Border punch, Wide oval and Word Window Punches, Basic Rhinestones, Tombow Multipurpose Glue, Snail, Sticky Strip.

*Upcoming Saleabration item

Happy stamping until next time,

Hello Lovely, feel better!

The sun has come out finally just as I am ready to share todays' cards with you. Its been a chilly, windy and showery day so far so it is lovely to see the sun!
Todays cards are in honour of a sketch at the Paper Craft Crew this week - thats right, there are TWO cards! One a "basic" version and then a "stepped up" version which I will be entering in the Challenge.

So here is the basic version - first play with the Hello Lovely stamp set :-)
So a bit of monotone elegance and a touch of Rhinestone bling....

And here is the Stepped Up, Challenge entry version using the same stamp sets plus...
Again I used the Hello Lovely stamp set for the three squares and arrow and a touch of Hearts a Flutter and some red ribbon and larger rhinestones. The Pretty Print EF is used to emboss the top 2/3rds of the white card stock too.
The arrow is vaguely aimed towards the greeting :-)

Card stock: Basic Black, Whisper White
Stamps: Hello Lovely, Sassy Salutations, Hearts a Flutter
Inks: Black Stazon, Real Red
Accessories: Big Shot, Hearts a Flutter Framelits, Pretty Print EF, Postage Stamp Punch,1" Square Punch, Red Polka Dot ribbon (wrong side up), Basic Rhinestones

When we were walking at Hays Paddock park this morning we came across another Indian Miner chick that had fallen out of its nest. There was another chick on the ground nearby that had sadly given up its fight for life but its Mother was still keeping close, dive bombing us. So we placed the live chick back in the tree and its mother came over so hopefully this one will be ok. I guess we will find out tomorrow!

Happy stamping until next time,

Jan
