Rock On For JAI #655

Hello and welcome! It's the first Friday of June and Winter in Australia, 2023.  To be fair, it has felt very Winter-like the last month with the cold, wet days easily out numbering the few dry, sunny ones. It does mean that inside at the craft desk is a good place to be at when the weather outside is not so pleasant. I hope that you are enjoying time crafting during these colder months too.

At Just Add Ink this week, Tristan has suggested we "Just Add....Music" to our projects this week. Our design team have all added varying ideas on this theme to inspire you so I hope that you can pop on over to the challenge blog and join us!

My card....well yes, it's bright! 😂

I am part of a musical family and have a teenage nephew who takes after me in that he plays guitar. In fact even before he was a teen, one of the few school bands he's in played as opening act for his music teacher's band. It was an exciting night for him and a proud one for his parents - and rightfully so.

So now perhaps you can see where I was going with this card? Yes, it is supposed to be the look of a music gig - ie. stage lighting -  and obviously a guitarist. The silhouette is a retired SU single stamp called Extreme Guitar.

The background is sponged onto watercolor paper to enable the colors to blend more easily, it was sprinkled with water to create the dotted effect and then, once dry the single image is embossed x3.
To create the sentiment, a further background image was created and this was die cut several times to provide height and then covered in Fine tipped glue to give a shiny and clear coat to the letters.
Some silver star sequins complete this masculine music themed card.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope this shows you that you can use whatever inspires you to create a musical themed card for this week's Just Add Ink Challenge. I look forward to seeing what you create!

Card stock: Basic White (Thick)
Ink: Versamark
Stamps: Extreme Guitar (Retired)
Accessories: Die Cutting Machine, Playful Alphabet Dies (retired), Metallic Sequins, Fine Tip Glue

Non SU: Tim Holtz Ranger Distress Inks for background.

JAI #643 Choose Two Dance

Hello everyone and welcome back! It's hard to believe that Summer is over already and the mornings are definitely darker and cooler lately. The veggie garden is still producing lots of tomatoes and other summer goodies so it doesn't quite feel like Autumn yet. Saleabration is over and I placed a late order so it's been fun to play with some new goodies from the Occasions Catalogue this week.

It's new challenge time at Just Add Ink and Nikki has suggested we Choose Two of Blending, Embossing or White. These elegant techniques really create a lot of options and the design team have created a beautiful array of cards to inspire you so I hope that you can pop on over and take a look and I'd love to see what you create!

My card with its white embossing has proven difficult to photograph so I hope that you can see the musical notes on the white background. I chose Blending and Embossing - and yes, there is white too.

The ballerina image from the new Ballet Beauty set is stamped and then coloured using a few different pink coloured Blends and then covered in a liberal layer of Wink of Stella. Fussy cut and added above a white and silver ribbon. My oldest niece has just started using point shoes in her ballet classes and so this card is to celebrate her wonderful achievement.

The cut apart sentiment is part of one in the same stamp set.  The Dance is created using the Playful Alphabet dies, a few layers of each letter and a generous layer of Fine Tip Glue Pen to make it 3D and shiny.
The white background layer is embossed with the Merry Melody 3D embossing folder.

Card stock: Petal Pink, Basic White
Inks: Momento Tuxedo Black, Blends: Petal Pink, Rococo Rose
Accessories: Die Cutting Machine, Merry Melodies  EF, Playful Alphabet Dies, Stitched Rectangle Dies, Fine Tip Glue Pen, White and Silver Ribbon, Metallic Sequins Assortment

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed my card and are inspired to join in this week's Just Add Ink challenge. I look forward to seeing what you will create for this fun and elegant challenge!

'Til next time,

Jan

Bron’s 60th Birthday Blog Hop Tropical Holiday

Welcome to the 6th and final of Bron's 60th Birthday Blog Hops - Celebrating the fabulous Bronwyn Eastley and it is especially lovely timing as today actually IS her Birthday!!

You may have arrived here from the lovely Catherine Proctor's blog or you may be starting here.
I hope you enjoy your time hopping around all the blogs and Insta posts - there will be a full list on Bronwyn's blog if you happen to get lost along the way.

My first thought of a "tropical holiday" was to use something to do with palm trees and blue water as per the photo above. But I was talking to a friend as one does....and she shared that her first drink on holiday was always a Tequila Sunrise....so I started thinking about creating a sunrise. And then the memory of a TV ad campaign some years ago featuring "Rhonda and Ketut" and the idea for this card came to life. I do hope you remember the ads?? Ketut would always say to Rhonda "You look so HOT today....like a Sunrise" if that helps. 😁

So I created an Eclipse card and using sentiments in the Nothing Better Than stamp set for the "Like a" along with the coloured Cocktail images. The "Sunrise" is die cut using the Playful Alphabet dies.

A liberal layer of Wink of Stella covers the "Sunrise" and the Cocktails and a sprinkling of sequins complete this fun card.

Card stock: Basic White, Thick and Standard, Basic Black, Watercolor Paper
Inks: Parakeet Party, Daffodil Delight, Sweet Sorbet,Melon Mambo, Starry Sky
Blends: Flirty Flamingo, Calypso Coral, Granny Apple Green
Stamps: Nothing Better Than
Accessories: Die Cutting Machine, Love You More Thank Dies, Playful Alphabet Dies, Metallic Sequins Assortment

Thanks for stopping by today and now you're off to see Vy Tran and her wonderful creations.  Enjoy!

JAI #614 Under the Sea

We are almost two thirds the way through Winter and it has been a cold and wet one this year.
It does give a good excuse to be inside and in the craft room don't you think?

And This week's Just Add Ink's Challenge to Just Add... Under The Sea is suggested by Kerry and is such a fun theme. The design team all have used a variety of stamps and ideas to inspire you so I encourage you to pop on over to the main blog and check them out.

I needed a baby card and so decided a mermaid would be a way of adding Under the Sea.
I didn’t have anything appropriate in my SU collection yet so this cute wee Mermaid is from a Clip Art Digi stamp I purchased from Etsy. She is easy to colour and was cut out by hand.

The "sea" background is created using Distress Inks and then cut out with the Framelits.
And the little white "sea grass"is from a now retired SU die set called Little Loves.

Pink glitter paper provides the little touch of bling needed for princesses and mermaids alike and this officially is now a completely unstamped card. Whilst lots of Wink of Stella and some enamel dots provide the finishing touches.

Card stock: Pool Party, Whisper White, Pink Glimmer
Stamps: non- SU Digi stamp
Inks: Copics and Blends, Background (non SU, Distress Inks)
Accessories: Die Cutting machine. Stitched Shapes Framelits, Playful Alphabet Dies, Well Worded Dies, Stitched Rectangle Dies, Little Loves Dies, Wink of Stella, Enamel Dots.

Thanks for stopping by today and especially to those who take the time to leave an encouraging comment.
I so look forward to seeing what you will create for this fun challenge at Just Add Ink this week!

Just Add Ink #543 Birthday Sketch

Hello and welcome! It's the last Friday of Summer and it seems to have flown by so fast. It has been a cooler time than usual but here in Victoria we are hoping for some of our Covid restrictions to ease today which would be good!

It's also time for our new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week, Kelly has given us this fun and geometric sketch to get the crafty thought processes working. Our lovely design team have created a wide variety of cards to inspire you so I hope that you can pop on over and have a look and we'd love for you to join us.

I created TWO cards using this sketch and here is the first one - although I actually created it second just to confuse you! The background DSP is cut into squares to represent the sketch and is much harder than it looks to get the right sizes. Then some flowers and dies from the lovely Pretty Perenials set and a strip of Glimmer paper complete this striking card.

This card was actually the first one I made and went into the post. The sketch details are a little bit hard to see - I scored the squares on the white background. The wreath was also created using the same same stamp set but the other details were from a number of different sets.

The 50 is from a retired die set, the & is from the Playful Alphabet Dies and the Fabulous is cut from a sentiment in the Dressed to Impress set. This mix of mainly pastels is for a very lovely lady who is most definitely fabulous in all she is!

Card stock: Bermuda Bay, Basic Black, Whisper White, Bermuda Glimmer, Highland Heather, Gold Foil.
Designer Series Paper: Oh so Ombre Salabration (2021)
Inks: Majenta Madness, Highland Heather, Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight, Grapefruit Grove, Merry Merlot, Petal Pink, Granny Apple Green
Stamps: Pretty Perennials, Dressed to Impress
Accessories: Die Cutting Machine, Stitched Rectangle Framelits, Large Numbers Framelits, Playful Alphabet Dies, White EP, Basic Rhinestones, Clear Jewels, Gold Gilded Jewels

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope that you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink  and see all the inspiration from the design team and I look forward to seeing what you will create with this fun sketch too!

Til next time,

Just Add Ink #541 Blended Eclipse Birthday

Happy Friday everyone and welcome!! It's been a hot week in Melbourne both with the weather and with the Tennis!! That's right, after all the waiting and a few complaints we can finally enjoy some live tennis on the tv with some real crowds for the players too! How good a reward for Victoria after all we went through last year is this!😀

This week at Just Add InkNikki has asked us to Just Add a Blended Background. There are lots of pretty examples to inspire you over on the blog and I hope you can pop on over and would love to see you join us!

For my card this week I chose to use the blended background front and centre with the Eclipse technique.
I started with a card front sized piece of water colour paper and went for pops of colour blended with some Summer inspired colours. Then I die cut a Stitched Circle from that and used the Playful Alphabet dies to cut the Happy. One of the great things about this set of dies is they have more than one of popular letters (such as P!).

Some layers of white letters underneath the coloured ones give the raised or "Eclipse" effect. Do remember to sit the centre of the coloured letters back in place too. A white embossed Birthday, some silver glimmer balloons, and a few scattered Enamel dots and this bright, cheery and clean card is ready.

Card stock: Whisper White, Silver Glimmer, Basic Black
Stamps: Well Said
Inks: Versamark
Accessories: Die Cutting Machine, Stitched Rectangle Dies, Playful Alphabet Dies, White EP, In Colour Enamel dots
Non - SU: Distress Inks (TH, Ranger), Stitched Circle Dies (MFT)

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can pop on over to Just Add Ink and see all the inspiration the team and entrants have for you and I look forward to see what you create this week!

Til next time,

Jan
