Something for Baby PCCCSC 141

Welcome to Winter in Melbourne - or so it feels!! But as Sydney and surrounding areas are currently underwater thanks to a huge deluge of rain we can not complain! Over 300mm of rain in a day has caused rivers to rise quickly and flooding is rampant across New South Wales.
But here in Melbourne, we have had a sunny morning that became a grey and cold afternoon and I suspect the temperature will be down to single digits overnight again.

And as it's Wednesday it's time for another sketch from The Paper Craft Crew. I hope you have a moment to pop on over and see all great ideas the Team has come up with to inspire you this week.

Here is the sketch:

And here is my card :

This was a sketch I did find quite tricky and so a real challenge!! But then we all appreciate how a good challenge can stretch us and help us grow as crafters don't we :-)

Card stock: Pool Party, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Best Year Ever ( Saleabration)
Inks: Crushed Curry, Pool Party
Stamps: Something for Baby, Baby We've Grown
Accessories: Big Shot, Baby's First Framelits, Postage Stamp Punch, 1/14" Square Punch, White Cotton Twine, Basic Rhinestones

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a moment to pop on over to The Paper Craft Crew and see what the rest of the Team has made to inspire you and I look forward to seeing what you will create with this sketch too.

Happy stamping until next time,

FMS Baby

Welcome to another hot Summer's day in Melbourne - last night we suffered through our hottest night on record - the lowest it got to was 28 degrees! (Celsius) And today will be 42 before the cool change arrives about 8pm. In the meantime it is quite windy outside too so our thoughts are with all those fighting the bush fires today in both South Australia and Victoria - a very difficult day ahead for them.

For us, it is a day of staying inside out of the heat - and so what better thing to do could there be than to make a card? None of course :-) So today I am using the great sketch this week by Narelle at Freshly Made Sketches

And I've made a much needed baby card as I am about to become an Aunty again….and wanted to use the Pom Pom trim….:-)

I'm sure this would've been easier if I had stuck to pink as I struggled with this one but I think we got there in the end :-)

Card stock: Calypso Coral, Crisp Cantaloupe, So Saffron, Whisper White
Designer Series paper: Lullaby
Inks: So Saffron, Calypso Coral
Stamps: Something For Baby, A Dozen thoughts
Accessories: Big Shot, Baby's Firsts Framlelits, Calypso coral Pom Pom trim

Talking of babies, in a bush in our yard in view of our back door, a Native Pigeon has been sitting on her nest and her chicks hatched yesterday - so not an easy day for them either. But she is being an awesome mother - I popped out to take a photo a moment ago and she was gone - soon to return with a cool worm or two for her hungry chicks when I'm sure she would rather be staying out of the sun. And yes - I have put a bowl of water out for her :-)

Here she is keeping her chicks safe despite the high wind:

Baby Girl Shaker for JAI

Welcome to the day before World Card Making Day!! Yes, it's that time of year again….crazy amounts of card making…no, its not Christmas (tho nearly!!) It's the day before WCMD so yes there are a few cards on the table. Unfortunately though,  I am not holding a special event tomorrow but am looking at getting together with some friends a little later in the week. So in the meantime I have a card to share with you that I have made for some old friends - who are celebrating being new grandparents :-) We often make new baby cards for parents but it is an exciting time for all the family of course -and  especially first time grandparents too :-)
And guess what the challenge this week is at Just Add Ink? Yes, that's right: "Just add Baby"…or in this case, just add baby shaker :-)

Oh another shaker card I hear you say…but yes - isn't this the ideal kind of baby card? And a good way of making it special I think :-) And Grandma IS a card making friend of mine after all….!!

The card base is some Pink Pirouette and then I stamped the pram image from the Something For Baby stamp in the centre of the white card and cut out with the co-ordinating framelits. I added some Window Sheet to the underside of the white and used a couple of the Shaker Frame circle adhesives to make the frame. I just snip one side of these little circles and remove the backing and they are so mouldable to any shape then. For the shaken goodies I used the Confetti Stars punch and punched out different coloured card stock including silver Glimmer and added some silver sequins for some added bling.
Next the letters were cut using framelits and Crystal Effects to the two Bbs and they were left overnight to dry.

And the cute little bunny teddy is coloured with Blendabilities markers too :-)

Card stock: Pink Pirouette,Whisper white, Strawberry Slush, Silver Glimmer
Inks: Pink Pirouette, Tuxedo Momento Black, Daffodil Delight Blendabilities, Strawberry Slush (marker)
Stamps: Something For Baby, Baby We've Grown
Accessories: Big Shot, Baby's Firsts Framelits, Large Polka Dots EF, Window Sheets, Shaker Frames, Confetti Stars Punch, Timeless type Alphabet Sizlits (Retired), Crystal Effects

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have time to go and check out all the great inspiration from the Team at Just Add Ink today and maybe you too might be the next to enter :-)

Oh Baby

It has been another gorgeous sunny day today although a little cool after a very chilly night! But it was lovely to be able to enjoy the sunshine :-)
The card I have to show you today is one I made a little earlier :-) (Sounds like a cooking demo!!) and was for a friend who came to visit us early this week. We had a lovely relaxing afternoon full of celebratory food and full of chat and fun and I made her a little card to go with a small gift to celebrate the news that she is expecting her first Baby boy! So exciting!

So without further ado, here is the card:

Yes, I couldn't resist the idea of a shaker card :-)

For the card base I sued some Soft Sky card and also stamped the pram image from the Something for Baby in the same ink. I used the co-ordinating framelit to cut the window in the top layer before embossing it with the On Point embossing folder.
To fill the shaker part I used a combination of Blue and Silver Sequins and some Silver glimmer paper punched with the Confetti Stars punch. I also used the Coastal Cabana Blendabilities to colour the shoes and the Little Letters dies to cut out the Baby :-)

Card stock: Soft Sky, Whisper White, Silver Glimmer
Inks: Soft Sky, Coastal Cabana Blendabilities markers
Stamps: Something for Baby, Baby We've Grown
Accessories: Big Shot, Baby's First's framelits, Little Letters Framelits, On Point EF, Confetti Stars Punch, Window Sheets, Blue and Silver Sequins (Non-SU)

Thanks so much for  taking the time to stop by today

Happy stamping until next time,

Fathers Day is Coming

It is a gorgeous Sunny Winter's day today - so nice to be able to enjoy it after the crisp morning but so worth the wait :-).
Here in Australia, we celebrate Father's Day on the first Sunday in September - so its not very far away! So when I saw the fabulous sketch at Freshly Made Sketches this week I knew I had to give it a go :-)

Such an elegant sketch!

For my card I started by choosing papers from the Moonlight DSP Stack - and then cut out my letters using the retired Timeless Type Dies.
To add some interest I stamped with the addictive Gorgeous Grunge on the white card and to tie it all together ( literally!) I coloured some Whisper White Bakers Twine with the Mid colour of the Daffodil Delight Belendabilities Markers. So easy to get matching twine for all your colours now! And as usual, I couldn't resist a little bit of bling - despite the masculine feel of the card :-)

Card stock: Crushed Curry, Smoky Slate, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Moonlight Stack
Inks: Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight Blendabilities Markers
Stamps: Gorgeous Grunge
Accessories: Big Shot, Baby's First Framelits, Timeless Type Sizlits (Retired) Whisper White Bakers Twine, Silver Sequins (Non-SU)

Something about babies

Welcome to another chilly afternoon in Melbourne! We have had one of our few and far between clear and sunny winter days - so much nicer than the grey days we never get used to!
And so it is time for another sketch from The Paper Craft Crew - such a wide array of lovely cards by our Design Team this week I do hope you can take some time to check them all out :-)

Here is the sketch for this week:

I decided I might get ready for the upcoming baby fever of Spring :-) So many friends and now family too expecting family additions it is a really special time :-)

Using the new Lullaby DSP and the Something for Baby stamp set  - this time without the matching framelits. I decided to keep it clean with lots of white - or whitish  - spaces :-)

And in keeping with the sketch, I used the Circle Framelits instead to cut out the main image of the pram. And the cute little greeting comes from Baby We've Grown and is cut out with the fabulous Starburst Framelits. To make the NEW stand out a little I coloured it with one of the lightest of the Skin Tone Blendabilities markers -aren't these so handy and useful! With a little added bling, some Crisp Cantaloupe twine to cover the paper join and a fun little bow and it is all ready to send!

Card stock: Whisper White, Crisp Cantaloupe
Designer Series Paper: Lullaby
Ink: Crisp Cantaloupe
Stamps: Baby We've Grown, Something For Baby
Accessories: Big Shot, Circle and Starbursts Framelits, Polka Dots EF, Banner Punch, Crisp Cantaloupe twine, Basic Rhinestones

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have time to go and check out the other great Design Team member cards this week at The Paper Craft Crew.  And I hope you feel inspired to join us :-)

Special Delivery

This last week has been one of those weeks….with Sally still needing a lot of care and attention - not to mention waking at all hours still  - and the sad news of our beloved Meg's passing back home in New Zealand... So it was wonderful to hear from our favourite neighbours that their first born son arrived safe and all well on Tuesday. Little Benjamin :-) And so the news called for a special card of course!!
I had in mind to make a Cascading card and found a good video with measurements to use an A4 sheet of card stock here.

And here is the card:

A fun card to make and give :-)
It uses two baby sets that I have quickly grown to love in the new Catalogue: Baby We've Grown and Something For Baby. Also Blendabilities markers were used to colour both images on the front panel and the gorgeous Lullaby DSP is used throughout the card layers.

The cute washing line posts were stamped with the Hardwood background stamp and cut and added to the back of the card - there is also a white layer on one of the back panels to write the message on :-)
Mini clothes pegs hold up the wash items on the Hemp Twine line.

Card stop: Coastal Cabana, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Lullaby
Inks: Crushed Curry, Coastal Cabana, Lost Lagoon, Sahara Sand, also Coastal Cabana and Daffodil Delight Blendabilities markers
Stamps: Baby We've Grown, Something For Baby, Hardwood
Accessories: Big Shot, Starburst, Banner and Baby's First Framelits, Hemp Twine, Miniature clothes pegs (Non SU) and Blue sequins (non SU)

Such a fun card to celebrate the arrival of a special new family member :-)

Happy stamping until next time,

Sweet Baby for FMS

Good morning! I hope it is a beautiful day wherever you are today. Here in Melbourne we have woken to the sun occasionally peeking through the clouds - so nice after the cold, wet and definitely wintery weekend!! Brrr…it has been so cold!!

Yesterday we were spoilt with visitors popping in to see us bringing fruit from their own trees and cake - so spoilt! It has been difficult to get out during the last week with Sally (labrador) needing pretty constant care after her surgery to both her hind legs, and then I toppled over on Thursday and dislocated a bone in my left foot - we have been a good looking pair with our matching ice packs :-)

And so with Sally having a little snooze after her tiny allowed walk out to the letter box and back it is the perfect time to make a card :-) And I love the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches this week!!

I love how this is such a versatile sketch and I knew what I wanted to do as I had a Skype call on the weekend…I won't share who from yet and there are a couple of people it could be…. but pretty exciting news!!

Yes! A baby is on the way :-)

So for this card I started with the background which is from the fabulous Moonlight DSP paper stack.
The lovely pram image is from the new Something For Baby stamp set which I love as it comes with matching framelits - so no fussy cutting needed :-)

And the greeting and cute bunny are from the Baby We've Grown set and I coloured these with the new Blendabilities (Blendies for short )  markers. To stamp the images for colouring you can use our regular Classic inks or the Memento Tuxedo Black ink, just make sure the images are really dry first.

For the greeting I stamped in Lost Lagoon, and coloured with the Coastal Cabana Blendies and for the cute bunny, I stamped in Basic Grey and coloured with the Daffodil Delight markers - and used the medium Coastal Cabana marker for the bow tie :-) I was quite pleased with how the colouring turned out - all new for me, I've never been good at drawing or colouring - that's why I use stamps LOL! So if I can do it anyone can :-)

Card stock: Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Moonlight Stack
Inks: Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon, Basic Grey, Coastal Cabana and Daffodil Delight Blendabilities Markers
Stamps: Baby We've Grown, Something For Baby
Accessories: Big Shot,  Project Life Corner punch, Baby's First Framelits, Project Life Corner punch, Basic Rhinestones

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I do hope you have a great day and can take some time to pop by Freshly Made Sketches  and check out the awesome cards the Design team have made and the full gallery of challenge entrants -maybe you too might be inspired to enter :-)

Happy stamping until next time,
