Joyful Ornament for JAI #325

Welcome and a very happy Friday to you! This week in Melbourne we have been blessed with sunshine and unseasonably warm temperatures - we thought that Spring had come early!  But with a big storm on the horizon it now feels as though we were only dreaming - pleasant dreams they were though :-)

And it's time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week, Tina has designed a beautifully CAS and fun sketch for us all to use. The design team have all made such gorgeous projects - it's obvious we all really enjoyed using it and we hope that you can take a moment to pop on over and take a look and join us.

Here is the sketch:

And here is my card - one of two :-)

As soon as I saw the sketch I knew I wanted to make a shaker ornament and I was delighted to find that this one  (available 1st Sept ) also fits inside the "O" of the Joy from the Joyful Nativity set!! This opens the door to so many variations :-)
Do you notice that the red "Joy" seems a little 'bumpy"? That is because it is the new Red Glitter Embossing Powder - it has a thick, uneven texture from the "shards" of glitter and also a real sparkle! So lovely in real life but rather hard to capture in a photo.

Here is another version. I can't decide which I like best -  the snow in this but also the stamped background of the previous ornament. Possibly a third version is waiting to be made - after all, it is only four months to Christmas...and I've decided to not let it creep up on me this year. More on that, another time...
There are a few sneak peek items from the upcoming Holidays Catalogue here - the star on the first card, the ornaments  and snow, Glitter Embossing powder and the shiny Gold Twine too :-)

Here you can see I added a strip of gold foil to complete the side of the ornament and hopefully the added texture and shine of the Glitter Embossing on the "Y."

Card stock: Real Red, Whisper White, Gold Foil, Red Foil (retired)

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and I look forward to seeing your project with this clean and fun sketch this week.

Happy stamping until next time,

Deer Christmas

We have had a lovely day here in Melbourne today. The weather is beginning to cloud over now and rain is indeed forecast for this evening but the sun has been shining for most of the day. And the Spring veggie garden has yielded its first real fruit of the season - tomatoes, cucumber and spring onions ( as well as plenty of lettuce varieties ) all ripe for the picking!
Today's card for the Paper Craft Crew sketch

Such a great sketch! I do hope you have time to stop by The Paper Craft Crew and see the great cards by the Team this week to inspire you.

And my card was made with my Brother-in-law in mind. He and my sister live in almost rural New Zealand and he occasionally gets the opportunity to go hunting in the forests looking for wild deer….not that I think he's had a great deal of success - just the thrill of the chase :-)

Of course there will be no snow in New Zealand this Christmas - it will be Summer! But they can always dream :-)

There are many directions you can go with this sketch and I decided to make a scene :-) The lovely Stag and birds and coloured using the Blendabilities markers and the snow drops are first stamped and then filled with some Silver Dazzling Details for some sparkle!

Card stock: Pool Party, Whisper White, Silver Glimmer
Designer Series Paper: All Is Calm
Inks: Momento tuxedo Black, Blendabilites markers: coastal Cabana, cherry Cobbler and Neutrals
Stamps: White Christmas
Accessories: Silver Dazzling Details, Small Star punch (retired), Basic Rhinestones

Thanks for stopping by today and I do hope you have time to check out all the great inspiration from the rest of the Team at The Paper Craft Crew and maybe you might be the next to enter the challenge?

Happy stamping until next time,

Jan

White Christmas

Good afternoon! This week I have been taking it easy after a busy week last week and it has been a good thing to do. But now it is time to share with you again - on this wonderful Wednesday -  and time for another sketch from The Paper Craft Crew.

When I first saw this sketch I knew I wanted to create a scene using the White Christmas stamp set (it's first inking) and highlight part of the scene. The square frame seems to be one of the On Film framelits to me but here in Australia our standard card sizes are slightly different and i didn't think that it would fit and so instead I used the smaller film frame….

The black on red greeting is much clearer in real life too….

The DSP is from the All is Calm pack and that influenced the colour choices - except for the red of course!! I stamped the trees image in Momento Tuxedo Black and then used a Coastal Cabana Blendabilities marker to highlight the "ground" lines and under the tree. The two little birds are actually cut out by hand and added with some dimensionals as is the little snowman. I coloured the red Rhinestones with a blend abilities marker and both of the Banners were punched out and the Silver glimmer one just shortened with a pair of paper snips :-)

Card stock: Pool Party, Real Red, Whisper White, Silver Glimmer
DSP: All is Calm
Inks: Momento Tuxedo Black, Cherry cobbler and Coastal Caban blendabilities markers
Stamps: White Christmas
Accessories: Big Shot, On Film Framelits, Stars Framelits, Banner Punch, Hexagon punch, Basic Rhinestones, Frosted Sequins

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have time to check out all the great ideas from the Paper Craft Crew team this week and maybe you might be the next to enter!

Happy stamping until next time,

Jan
