Tree Angel for JAI #732

Happy Friday and welcome! It is almost 3 weeks til Christmas and the schools are finishing and the shops are filling up with shoppers. The jolly man in his red suit is inhabiting the shopping centres and the weather is heating up too. All of these are signs that Christmas is not far away here in Australia! How are your family's Christmas preparations going? Mine are running a little bit behind, but not too far.

This week at Just Add Ink Challenges, we have a very cool sketch from Tina! Our design team have used the sketch as it is or have flipped it around to landscape and so can you. We hope that you can pop on over to the JAI blog and be inspired to join in the Challenge!

This week's sketch is really fun. But I wondered if I could use a little lateral room with those mountain and valley parts of the it....and as it's nearly Christmas, I had a light bulb moment - Christmas trees would be the perfect shape for the sketch design!!

The trees are stamped versions of Decorative Trees - the dies of this set are so spectacular but I thought I'd try the stamped version and see how it would work for my idea. Perfectly, it turned out!

The stamped trees are quite light and fun and pair with an older MFT set from my stash really well.
For the lights, I stamped the ones above the puppy several times and coloured these and cut them out using snips. Every light and the cute puppy were all coloured with a mixture of Blends and Copics and then are slathered with Wink of Stella for some Christmas sparkle!

Card stock: Basic White, Basic Black, Summer Splash, Foil Specialty -  Grapefruit Grove
Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black, Versamark, Summer Splash, Lost Lagoon, Blends
Stamps: Decorative Trees
Accessories: Die cutting machine, Decorative Tree Dies, White EP, Wink of Stella

Non - SU: Stamps: Deck the Howls bundle (MFT-retired), Copics

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed my card and are inspired to pop on over to Just Add Ink and join in this week's challenge!

'Til next time,
Jan

Just Add Ink #533 Add Santa Paws

Hello and welcome!! It's Friday once again and the last week of November. It's amazing to think that 2020 is almost over! What a year it has been!!

So it's time for a new Challenge week at Just Add Ink and it's one of Tina's popular Letter challenges! This time it's the letter "S". So you can choose anything beginning with the letter "S" as the focal point of your project.  The design team have created such a great array of examples to show you so I hope you can pop over to JAI and take a peek and we'd love you to join us.

I decided on "Snow" and "Santa Paws" for my "S" elements on this fun and rather cute Christmas card.
The background is created with Distress Inks blended together to make a Northern or Southern Lights feel and then water splashes were added to create the snow effect.

For more snow, the hills and trees were created using the new Home Together dies - and layered to create room for all the fun pups. Next the pups were coloured with Copics and cut with the matching dies and liberally coated in Wink of Stella to continue the Snow effects.

The fun sentiment comes from the same stamp set and is embossed with Black Shimmery EP. It may be retired but I hope it might come back as it adds an extra touch of glamour to black.

Card stock: Whisper White (thick and standard), Real Red
Inks: Momento Tuxedo Black, Versamark
Accessories: Die cutting machine, Home Together Dies, Shimmery Black EP
Non SU: Stamps: Deck The Howls (MFT), Copics
P.S If you live in Australia and need a Copic colour ink refill or pen in a hurry then Officeworks might be able to help as most stores have a limited range of single pens and small packs available.

Thanks for popping by today and I hope that you can pop over to Just Add Ink and see all the lovely creations our design team have created to inspire you and I look forward to seeing what you will create with this fun "Add S" challenge!!

Til next time,
Jan

A Special Pendulum Christmas

Happy Boxing Day everyone!! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas Day full of joy and peace with lots of fun and relaxing moments too. Have you been off to the Sales today or are you waiting for the biggest sale of the year in Saleabration 😀We had a lovely day that started with Midnight Mass and then we had a long lunch with friends and a total of 6 doggies - and yes they all got along beautifully!

As most of you will know, Sally Junior arrived in August from Guide Dogs Victoria and so I wanted a special card for the staff there for Christmas. Sally was given to me as a Companion and we've undergone further training and she's now a registered Assistance Dog so comes with me everywhere I go and she's truly changed my life for the better so I am indeed very grateful.
I found this cute card by Karolyn Loncon and decided to CASE it using mainly Stampin Up products except for the cute doggy which is another gorgeous MFT creation.

It is a pendulum card and the dog's head moves from side to side. Karolyn has a link to YT video on her page that shows how to add the pendulum.

I did need to make two adjustments to the mechanism - instead of a penny, I used a 5c coin - but same idea. I also didn't have a slider disc so instead used two mini dimensionals on top of one another and rubbed them well with the embossing buddy so they were no longer sticky and it works well 😊
I coloured the dog to be a Golden Lab and then took liberties with the harness lol.

The harness reminded me a little of Sally's working harness so I had to make another didn't I 😀
The background inking is some distress Inks and the doggy image is coloured in a mixture of Copics and Stampin Blends.

And whilst I was on a roll....there is one last one coloured to be a chocolate Lab
for yet more doggy friends....

Such fun but quite detailed though I'm sure they will all be swinging their way through Christmas!

Card Stock: Melon Mambo, Tranquil Tide, Whisper White
Inks: Momento Tuxedo Black, Blends: Lovely Lipstick, Blackberry Bliss and Razzleberry Combos
Stamps: Hearts Come Home
Accessories: Big Shot, Layering Alphabet Edgelits, Irridescent and Metallic Sequins Assortments, Black EP
Non SU:  Deck the Howls by MFT, Copic Markers, Distress ink (Salty Ocean) TH/ Ranger, Watercolor Card stock Ranger

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you are enjoying the Christmas season!!

Happy stamping until next time.

Bark! The Herald Angels Sing for JAI #433

Happy November everyone and welcome!! It's hard to believe the year is nearly over - but the warm temperatures are a good sign of what is to come. Yesterday was our first 34 degree day since March and today will be 30 before a late cool change. That is one of the great things about Melbourne - it might be hot for a day or two but it changes quickly and the variation is great. We had a great day meeting Sally's Guide Dogs' puppy raiser today and meeting two dogs she grew up with including her half sister and just generally finding out a bit more about her - a very fun morning tho wish we had taken some photos!!

It's time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink and this week we have a fun and vibrant colour challenge suggested for us all to us by Jo. These colours are ready for anything and the design team had a lot of fun using them and we hope that you do to. Hopefully you can take a moment to pop on over and be inspired to join us - do note that this challenge lasts for two weeks too as many of the design team will be away at On Stage next weekend and we might be able to catch up with you in person so do come say hello! I will be with several JAI team members in Melbourne but there will also be others of the team in Brisbane and we'd love to meet you!

This fun new Christmas set from MFT arrived this week and I just couldn't resist using it though I'd normally colour the dogs a bit differently... The sentiment was just too good 😃
The background is the new Buffalo Check stamp and some ruler drawn lines which is a technique I've seen popular online and did add a more finished touch.

The silver die cuts are a combination of two sets available in the Annual Catty - The detailed Swirly Snowflakes and Starlights...a touch of vellum behind the Lab and this fun card is complete 😊

Card Stock: Blueberry Bushel, Lemon Lime Twist, Berry Burst, Silver Glimmer, Silver Foil, Vellum
Ink: Berry Bushel, Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist (Pencil), Versamark, Navy Blends
Stamps: Buffalo Check
Accessories: Big Shot, Swirly Snowflaks Thinlits, Starlight Thinlits, Stiched Shapes Framelits, Circle Framelits (retired), White EP,
Non SU: Deck the Howls stamp set (MFT)

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you might take a moment to pop over to Just Add Ink and see all the inspiration from the design team and I look forward to seeing your creations with this fun and vibrant colour combo in the gallery over the next two weeks 😊

Happy stamping until next time,

Jan
