JAI #583 Wedding Sketch

Happy Friday everyone and welcome back again. It is officially the first week of Summer and we've had heat, hail and floods all in a couple of days what an interesting few months ahead going by the last two days!

This week at Just Add Ink, Kim has created this clean and fabulous sketch for us all to use. You can flip it around or use it as is. Our design team have created a gorgeous array of cards to inspire you and we'd love you to join us over on the challenge blog.

For my card I needed a Wedding card for a friend. So I used this week's Sketch to help me do that.
The subtle rainbow background was created by sponging colour onto a stamp from the Artistically Inked stamp and the co ordinating leaves die was also used.
The flowers come from the retired Pretty Perennials and the sentiment from another set.

The embossed flowers I've used for the circle part of the sketch and the gold glimmer is of course for the edge.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see all the inspiration from the rest of the team and I look forward to seeing what you will create with this.

Card Stock: Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Be Dazzling Specialty

Accessories: Artistic Dies, Perennial Petals Dies, Stitched Rectangle Dies, Gold EP, Pearls, Sequins

Non SU: Tim Holtz/ Ranger Distress Inks: Picked Raspberry, Squeezed Lemonade, Salty Ocean and Cracked Pistachio.

'Til next time,

Jan

Flourish Sympathy for JAI #455

Happy Friday everyone and welcome back again! The month of May has arrived and that means sneaks peeks of new products!!  The Pre-order has begun for SU! Demos and its always an exciting time to see new catalogue items come to life with ink and paper for the first time!!

Image may contain: text

It's time for our new challenge at Just Add Ink and this week Kim has suggested we Just Add Sympathy to our projects. It's one of those card themes that is often hard to make and needed more often than we would like to think about. So this is an opportunity to be inspired to make a card so you have one on hand for when it's needed and our design team have created a beautiful array for you.

For my card, no sorry, no sneak peeks yet but am sure it won't be long... So I turned to the carrying over Flourishing Phrases stamp set and decided to try something a bit different.  I embossed the floral image in white onto Basic Black card stock and then coloured over it with Water colour pencils. Next, I used an Aqua Painter to gently blend the colour and then went over it again with the Pencil which brought out the colour more.

In the photo above you can see the texture that the heated white embossing powder adds underneath the pencil colour. A second version is fussy cut for layering and the green leaves are from the matching dies.

Card stock: Basic Black, Whisper White, Garden Green
Inks: Versamark, Water color pencils (Melon Mambo)
Stamps: Flourishing Phrases
Accessories: Big Shot, Stitched Shapes Framelits,Stitched Rectangle Framelits, Flourish Thinlits, White Embossing Paste, Happiness Blooms Enamel Dots

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see what the design team have made to inspire you and I look forward to seeing what you will create for this sadly often needed theme challenge.

Happy stamping until next time,

Jan

Just a Note for JAI #393

It's Friday already and a long weekend for all those in Australia. This week has sure gone mighty fast and the weather has been a bit more humid than what we are used to in the south but we haven't missed out on any heat :-)

This week's clean and fresh colour challenge at Just Add Ink has been suggested by Rochelle. Our lovely and talented design team have all created such wonderful cards to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment to pop on over and take a look and hopefully join us.

Leaves seemed a great way to combine these gorgeous greens and so I used the Crumb Cake to build layers and accents around them and still try and keep this largely clean and feminine.

I started by stamping the lovely leaves from Flourishing Phrases across the main panel and then layered the circle elements together. The top layer is vellum embossed with the Layered Leaves embossing folder to add to the theme.

Some Jute Twine left over from Christmas has been used to add another Crumb Cake-like element and layer of texture. Finally, the sentiment is white embossed and there's a sprinkling of gold sequins.

Card stock: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Lemon Lime Twist, Tranquil Tide, Vellum
Inks: Tranquil Tide, Lemon Lime Twist, Versamark
Stamps: Flourishing Phrases
Accessories: Big Shot, Flourish Thinlits, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Layered Leaves Dynamic EF, White EP,  Jute Twine, Metallic Sequins Assortment

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see what our design team have created and I look forward to seeing what you are inspired make with these colours!

Happy creating until next time,

Flourish Fiftieth for JAI #356

Happy Friday folks and welcome :-) This weekend is closely followed by another big Public Holiday- that of ANZAC Day on Tuesday both here in Australia and New Zealand as the name suggests. It marks the special bond between our two countries through serving in the armed forces together which began in Gallipoli in World War I. The bonds remain strong despite our great rivalry on the sporting fields - as long as the (NZ) All Blacks win the rugby I don't mind the rest of the sporting  results too much though LOL!

Even more fun than sport this weekend is the new challenge at Just Add Ink! Kelly has suggested this fabulous "Just Choose Two" theme of Metallics, Circles or Balloons and the lovely design team have all created fabulous projects to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment and take a peek and join us :-)

I decided to go with Circles and Metallics to create this special 50th card for a lovely friend.
The starting point was the Copper numbers and pink background circle where the photopolymer sentiment stamp is pulled into a slightly tighter circle to fit. The flower and leaves added around the circles and allowed to pop up over the water coloured background that has a little Gold Wink of Stella flicked over for good measure. Does this come in copper yet does anyone know??

Hopefully you can see the colours better without the shine here :-)

Card stock: Night of Navy, Pink Pirouette, Mint Macaron, Sweet Sugarplum, Whisper White, Copper Foil
Inks: Mint Macaron, Sweet Sugarplum
Stamps: Number of Years, Flourishing Phrases
Accessories: Big Shot, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Flourish Thinlits, Large Number Framelits, Gold Wink of Stella, Aqua Painter, Metallic Sequin Assortment
Non SU: Water color paper (Tim Holtz), Stitched Circle Framelits (larger circle only - Simon Says Stamps)

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see the fabulous cards our team have made to inspire you and I look forward to seeing what you will choose to create with for this fun challenge too :-)

Happy stamping until next time,

Just A Note for JAI #336

Welcome and Happy Friday to you! We are settling into the new home and making some new routines. It is so peaceful here after moving from a busy road and we now get to welcome birds into our garden which is so lovely :-)

And also lovely is the new challenge at Just Add Ink this week. Nikki  has suggested a soft and elegant colour combo for us all to use and our lovely team have all created beautiful projects to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment to pop on over and take a look!

Here are the colours:

And here is my card:

This is the first card made in the new craft room and I wanted to create a floral and leafy card to encourage a lovely friend back home in NZ.  Sadly, you can't quite see the shimmer to the flower from the Wink of Stella...One thing with everything being new is finding the best place to take photos - so still working on that  - and then of course remembering to take another view to show the layers before popping the card in the post ...(yes, I forgot!! ) but am sure will have it all worked out by next week :-)

Card stock: Night of Navy, Smoky Slate, Whisper White, Mint Macaron
Ink: Smoky Slate, Blushing Bride, Night of Navy
Stamps: Flourishing Phrases
Accessories: BS,  Flourish Thinlits, Subtles Enamel Shapes, Clear Wink of Stella

This is a native Rosella feasting on the nectar on the flowers of one of our two red Callistomen (or Bottlebrush) trees. Isn't he gorgeous :-)

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop over to Just Add Ink and see the beautiful projects the design team have made to inspire you and I look forward to seeing what you will create with these pretty colours too!

Happy stamping until next time,

Thankful Hydrangea for JAI #324

Happy Friday to you and I hope your week has gone well. With the sun rise slowly getting earlier and sunset later, it is encouraging - the daffodils are starting to sprout and the garden is beginning to show some positive signs of new growth. Just waiting on the temperatures to warm up :-)

We have a new challenge for you at Just Add Ink where Trish has suggested this soft and pretty floral pic to inspire our crafting this week. The design team have created gorgeous cards and have many ideas to inspire you with so I hope you can take a moment and pop over to take a look and join us.

Here is the photo:

And here is my card:

There were some new products on my craft table - the lovely new Copper Embossing powder and metallic thread and the Thoughtful Branches stamp set all begging to be used :-) So, I created a background scene by sponging ink onto white card and then created the 3 layers of colour for the hydrangea from water colour paper - lightest on top and gradually darker and offset - with some Razzleberry card as the base layer. Then it was just a matter of adding some (ok maybe too much? ) bling!

Card stock: Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White, Garden Green, Watercolor Paper
Designer Series Paper: Serene Scenery Stack
Inks:Rich Razzleberry, Versamark, Pear Pizazz, Wild Wasabi, Soft Sky, Tempting Turquoise
Stamps: Thoughtful Branches, Flourishing Phrases, Jar of Love
Accessories: Big Shot, Beautiful Branches Thinlits, Everyday Jars Framelits (bow), Copper EP, Copper Metallic Thread, Linen Thread, In colour sequins (2013-2015, Retired), Aquapainter.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see the gorgeous cards our team has made to inspire you and I look forward to seeing what you will create with this beautiful scene too!

Happy stamping until next time,

Flourishing Easel for JAI #323

Welcome and a very happy Friday to you! Today, Sally the Lab is having some tests done on spots on her nose...there was just one for ages but suddenly it's changed colour and multiplied so fingers crossed it's not too bad, poor girl :-(  In the meantime, the sun is shining and I'm having a lovely day crafting with a good friend - we have a few projects that I will share with you soon :-)

To encourage your crafting this week, we have a new challenge for you at Just Add Ink. This week, Tina has suggested we Just add....F. So what do we mean by "F"? Anything that you would like to use that starts with the letter F. It may be a stamp set, a technique, a colour...our lovely design team have created beautiful projects to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment and pop on over and take a look.

For my F elements I used a Fancy Fold (Easel card), Flourishing Phrases stamp and matching Framelits, some Flirty Flamingo ink to stamp a Flower and gold Foil card - so just a few things  :-)
After last week's challenge to use one of the new In- Colours, I decided to jump right in and try some more - so we have the lovely Dapper Denim ( looks a little like the old Not Quite Navy or is just me?), and Flirty Flamingo.
This upright Easel is very easy to do, on a top folding card, just score and then fold horizontally halfway down the front panel. The key is to only attach your image panel to the bottom half and then decorate the inside in a way to hold up the panel - here that is done by the flower framelit and the gold panel.

And it folds flat ready for posting too :-)

Card stock: Whisper White (thick and standard), Dapper Denim, Flirty Flamingo, Gold Foil
Ink: Versamark, Flirty Flamingo, Dapper Denim
Stamps: Flourishing Phrases, Rose Wonder, Crazy About You
Accessories: Big Shot, Flourish Thinlits, White EP, Burlap Ribbon, In Colour Enamel Shapes

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see all the fabulous cards our lovely team have made to inspire you and I look forward to seeing what you will create using the letter "F" this week too!

Happy stamping until next time,

Jan
