Happy Friday everyone and welcome back again! The month of May has arrived and that means sneaks peeks of new products!! The Pre-order has begun for SU! Demos and its always an exciting time to see new catalogue items come to life with ink and paper for the first time!!
It's time for our new challenge at Just Add Ink and this week Kim has suggested we Just Add Sympathy to our projects. It's one of those card themes that is often hard to make and needed more often than we would like to think about. So this is an opportunity to be inspired to make a card so you have one on hand for when it's needed and our design team have created a beautiful array for you.
For my card, no sorry, no sneak peeks yet but am sure it won't be long... So I turned to the carrying over Flourishing Phrases stamp set and decided to try something a bit different. I embossed the floral image in white onto Basic Black card stock and then coloured over it with Water colour pencils. Next, I used an Aqua Painter to gently blend the colour and then went over it again with the Pencil which brought out the colour more.
In the photo above you can see the texture that the heated white embossing powder adds underneath the pencil colour. A second version is fussy cut for layering and the green leaves are from the matching dies.
Card stock: Basic Black, Whisper White, Garden Green
Inks: Versamark, Water color pencils (Melon Mambo)
Stamps: Flourishing Phrases
Accessories: Big Shot, Stitched Shapes Framelits,Stitched Rectangle Framelits, Flourish Thinlits, White Embossing Paste, Happiness Blooms Enamel Dots
Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see what the design team have made to inspire you and I look forward to seeing what you will create for this sadly often needed theme challenge.
Happy stamping until next time,
Jan
Oh, wow, Jan! I've never particularly liked that flower as it seems so flat. You've brought it to life with your clever combo of embossing and colouring. It's stunning!
ReplyDeleteWow! Your card is stunning Jan. I've made a note to try this technique and see if I can replicate your beautiful colouring. Kelly x
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my go-to sets for sympathy cards Jan but I've never tried this technique so thanks for the inspiration! So pretty.
