Rearranged Beauty for JAI #755

Happy Friday and welcome back! It's the beginning of Winter here in Melbourne, Australia and what a chilly one it is too! Though I must say that seeing the sunshine against blue skies is a lovely sight even though there is not much warmth in it at the moment!

And this week at Just Add Ink we have a cool Colour Challenge for you from Kerry.
The design team have created a variety of themed cards to inspire you so I hope that you can pop on over to the blog and join us.

For my card this week, I turned to the Layers of Beauty bundle and Masks for the focal image of my card. And then after colouring them, I decided to cut the image apart and use it in two pieces for a change.
What you probably can't see is that underneath the top layer of the image, is another die cut of the image using Smoky Slate for a tiny contrast / outline.

The background uses a Mask from the Artistic Mix masks to create an ombre effect. And the sentiment is embossed with Silver EP to accentuate the use of the greys.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope that you can pop by the Just Add Ink blog and see all the other cards from the design team and I look forward to seeing what card you might make for this challenge.

Card stock: Smoky Slate, Lemon Lolly, Basic White,
Inks: Momento Tuxedo Black, Versamark, Lemon Lolly, Balmy Blue, Marina Mist, Smoky Slate
Stamps: Layers of Beauty, Artistically Inked
Accessories: Die Cutting Machine, Layers of Beauty Masks and Dies, Artistic Mix Masks, Silver EP, Metallic Sequins.

'Til next time,

Layers of Colour for JAI #745

Happy Friday everyone and Happy April too! For those living in Australia, this weekend is the end of Daylight Savings and the start of School Holidays in Victoria and Queensland....such a busy weekend!!
I hope that the extra hour's sleep (unless you live in QLD or other places not doing DS) means that you wake refreshed and keen to join in the challenge with us! 😀

This week at Just Add Ink we have a very pretty Colour Challenge from Kim. It's a colour palette that has so many uses from the upcoming Easter holidays to colouring florals as the design team have shown. I hope that you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and check out the blog and we'd love to have you join us.

For my card I chose to use the Layers of Beauty Bundle and Masks, using 3 layers of Petunia Pop and 2 layers of every other colour apart from Smoky Slate to create the floral images.
The first layer of Petunia especially is very light indeed so that there was room for the other two layers of it on top.
I must admit that I hadn't really used Soft Sea Foam much before this challenge but I definitely have fallen in love with it now! It reminds me a little of the retired Pear Pizazz that also was lovely to use for leaves.

These soft and pretty colours really pop against a white background and this one has the lovely Crochet EF adding a little texture to it.
There are some lovely new Frames by SU that are on my Wishlist but for now, this frame was made using Rectangles.

Card stock: Smoky Slate, Petunia Pop, Basic White
Ink: Petunia Pop, Balmy Blue, Soft Sea Foam, Smoky Slate
Stamps: Layers of Beauty, Artistically Inked
Accessories: Die Cutting Machine, Layers of Beauty Dies, Layers of Beauty Masks, Crochet EF, Stitched Rectangle Framelits, White EP, In colour jewels.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope that you can pop on over to Just Add Ink and see all the cards made by the design team and entrants and I look forward to seeing what you might make for this challenge too!

'Til next time,

Birthday Layers of Beauty for JAI #724

Happy Friday and welcome!! It is incredible how in just one week, how the weather can warm up enough to mean that it's time to change over to a Spring/Summer wardrobe from Winter. So glad that this time is now here! Spring is my favourite time of year, so much hope in the air! I hope that your week has gone well too!

We have a Colour Challenge with a difference for you at Just Add Ink this week! This fun challenge has been suggested by Nikki - that we use Misty Moonlight and Peach Pie (or the equivalent colours) and then choose one another colour to add for the third colour of the challenge. Ooh! This is going to be fun to see what colours everyone chooses! The design team have created a variety of cards to inspire you - but we wait to see you inspire US with this challenge! I really hope that you can pop on over to Just Add Ink and join with us!

For my card I CASEd  (Copy and selectively edited) a card on page 57 of the Annual Catalogue. The catalogue is such a wonderful resource to take an idea and build on it to create something more.

The two challenge colours would be used for the flowers and then for a choice of green, I used the Colour Theory graphics on pages 132-133 to help me choose Granny Apple Green.

The Layers of Beauty masks are wonderful tools to help add -indeed, layers - of colour. So this is what I did. Starting with a really light layer of coverage with the Peach especially and the Moonlight and increasingly adding a little heavier colour for each layer.
I love to water colour and to use markers to do this...and I was amazed at the amount of texture and detail in these masks.

I didn't change too much about the card because I loved it as it was!
Obviously its now a portrait card, with an embossed white layer and the sentiment is different...and just a little - or big - gold bow. Metallics being allowed with colour challenges.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope that you are excited to join with us at Just Add Ink this week as we will be keen to learn what colours you would add to complete this Colour Challenge Combo!

Card stock: Whisper White (Thick and Standard), Midnight Muse
DSP: 2024-2026 In colour
Inks: Peach Pie, Midnight Muse, Granny Apple Green
Stamps: Layers of Beauty, Well Said (retired)
Accessories: Die Cutting Machine, Layers of Beauty Masks, Layers of Beauty Dies, Forever Plaid EF, Stitched Rectangle Dies, Enamel Dots (retired). White EP.

'Til next time,
Jan

Birthday Ink Layers for JAI #708

Here in Australia we are almost a third of the way through Winter and this weekend is forecast to be very wet and chilly. So if you are a crafter and looking for an excuse to stay home from the ski fields this weekend, having a fun challenge to take part in might just be what you you need!

This week at Just Add Ink we have a fun and interesting Choose Two Challenge for you out of Blending, Embossing or White suggested by Nikki. This is definitely one that got the thinking caps of the Design Team on and so I hope that you might like to pop on over to the challenge Blog and take a peek and join us!

For my Two Elements I chose Embossing and Blending....white? Well, yes, possibly white is noticeable too! I just couldn't help it...call it CAS card making LOL!

The beautiful Layers of Beauty stamp is inked in Versamark and then embossed with White EP.
Next, the coordinating masks are used and ink is blended to colour the image which is finally die cut.

The background is created using one of the Artistic Mix Masks and blending Berry Burst Ink to create an ombre background. This means the negative space creates crisp, white stripes which I love.
I can't quite let go of Artistically Inked. It has been a much loved bundle for all of the years it has been available and one of the reasons is this simple and cheerful, birthday sentiment. Here it is also embossed using White EP.
And finally, a sprinkling of sequins from the metallic sequins assortment where the white ones have a pink tint that perfectly suits Fresh Freesia and its tonal friends.

Thanks for taking the time to pop by and see my card and especially to those who leave a comment. It is always so appreciated!
I hope that you have can head over to Just Add Ink and see the rest of the design team's inspiration for you and I look forward to seeing what you create for this challenge!

Card stock: Basic White, Berry Burst
Inks: Versamark, Fresh Freesia, Berry Burst, Summer Splash, Shy Shamrock
Stamps: Layers of Beauty, Artistically Inked
