JAI #596 Add A Sketch Artistically

Hello, happy Friday to you and welcome! Time is going so quickly and it is hard to believe that we are nearly through the first 3 months of 2022 already! It's been a busy and rather stressful time in our household as we have found the need to move yet again...and hopefully this time will be the last.

It's time for a new challenge week at Just Add Ink and this week we have a fun sketch for you from Narelle! Our design team have created a really lovely array of cards to inspire you so I hope that you might like to pop on over and join us.

I used the sketch to create a feminine birthday card. Instead of piling the sketch strips on top of each other though, I spread them out in largest to smallest kind of way using strips of DSP from the very pretty Expressions of Ink DSP.

The sentiment, embossed in gold is from the Artistically Inked bundle which also is where this pretty die cut flower spray is from too. A beautiful suite perfect for feminine projects!

Thanks so much for popping by today and I hope that you can take a moment to continue over to Just Add Ink and be inspired to create your own card for this challenge. I so look forward to seeing what you create!

JAI #594 Just Add Masking Male Birthday

Hello everyone and welcome everyone! It's nearly the end of another week and it's been one where the weather has been front in centre in many States around Australia. Here in Victoria it has been a week to quietly go under the radar.

As it's Friday it's time for our new challenge at Just Add Ink and this week's challenge comes to us from Kerry. She's asking us to Just Add Masking. That may be masking off areas with a physical or liquid barrier. Our lovely design team have again created a fabulous array of projects to highlight this technique and I hope that you can pop on over and join us!

I decided to show how easy it can be to use Masking Tape to create a masked background.
Using mu Grid Paper, I lined up my card stock and used the squares and the actual width of the tape to decide on my colour panel sizes. The colours were chosen because I needed an adult male card this week.
Oh and if anyone is wondering about the candle....yes, I made that too!!

The greeting is stamped and die cut using the now retired Layering Alphabet bundle. The text shape is modern and the size is large - and raised with dimensionals it has a cool 3 D effect to it that's perfect for guy cards!

To complete my card I added a selection of silver and clear sequins to add a bit of something shiny and fresh but still masculine.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you are inspired to hop on over to Just Add Ink and join in this week's fun challenge! I look forward to seeing what you will create for this week's fun technique challenge!

Card stock: Blueberry Bushel, Whisper White
Inks: Blueberry Bushel,
Stamps: Layering Alphabet
Accessories: Die Cutting Machine, Layering Alphabet Edgelits, Metallic Sequin Assortment
Non SU: Distress Inks: Salty Ocean, Cracked Pistachio, Blueprint Sketch

JAI #592 Choose Two and a Special Birthday Card

Happy Friday everyone and welcome!! Summer is nearly over, school has begun and here in Victoria we are about to be able to leave the masks off for most situations. It will seem very strange at first I'm sure but it is a great sign that everyone's hard work during the past two years of the pandemic has been worth it.

It's time for our new challenge at Just Add Ink and this week's challenge is from Nikki who want's us to choose two options out of Texture, Patterned Paper or Layers. As always our lovely design team have created some gorgeous inspiration to help get your creative juices going. So I hope you can pop on over to the challenge blog as we'd love you to join us!

My card is for Miss 5 year old who enjoys her sweet treats. So I initially chose layers and texture for my Challenge elements. But as you can see, there is a little patterned paper as well. I just couldn't resist adding another touch of colour to bring the other pieces together.

The layers are pretty self explanatory. Patterned paper, layered circles and layers of the die cut word.
And the texture is too - there is the pretty glimmer paper, the embossed Happy and Ice cream cone and the glossy cherry is achieved with a covering of the Fine Tip Glue. There is also a sprinkling of pretty  embellishments.

Two popsicles, a yummy ice cream plus all those gummy bears hopefully will go down well with Miss 5!

Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to seeing what Choose Two elements you use in your projects this week for Just Add Ink!

Card stock: Whisper White Standard and Thick, Bermuda Bay Glimmer

Designer Series Paper: Cool Treats
Stamp set: Cool Treats, Well Said
Accessories: Die Cutting Machine, Frozen Treats Dies, Well Worded Dies, White EP, Sprinkles embellishments.

JAI #590 Plentiful Plant Friends

Happy Friday everyone and welcome! It's been a hot Summer here in Australia this year and this coming weekend in Melbourne is no different. The schools are back now though which is wonderful for our young people. And our international borders are set to open in a few weeks. How amazing will that be for those missing friends and families abroad!!

This week at Just Add Ink it's time for an Inspiration Photo Challenge and this cute little cactus has been suggested by the lovely Nikki. Our lovely design team have created an array of beautiful cards to inspire you. The lovely thing about a Photo challenge is you can take what appeals to you from it to kick start you creative process.

I was inspired simply by there being a green plant and the subtle little polka dot pattern in the background.
During lockdown, I started collecting house plants. This has been a fun learning curve for an outside gardener.  A lovely friend gave me a Fiddle Leaf fig for Christmas and she has one too so their progress is something we can share. So when I saw this image in the co ordinating DSP, I knew it should be the star of my card for this week. Isn't she gorgeous?!!

The paper Lattice is also part of this Suite of products and really is lovely. I used it for a pattern background in the way the polka dots are in the photo and raised it up. After fussy cutting the little Fiddle, I added some Wink of Stella to it. Then with the twine, a sentiment and a sprinkling of Basic Jewels this very neutral coloured card is done. And it is as big a surprise to me, as it may be to some of you that I didn't add a touch of pink at all!!

Card stock: Basic White, Thick and Standard
Designer Series Paper: Bloom Where You're Planted, Paper Lattice
Ink: Everest Evergreen
Stamps: Plentiful Plants
Accessories: Die Cutting Machine, Perfect Plants Dies, White Twine, Wink of Stella, Basic Jewels (rhinestones),

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you enjoy your weekend and I look forward to seeing what you will create using this beautiful photo Inspiration Pic at Just Add Ink this week.

JAI #588 Hello Artistically

Hello and welcome! It's the last week of January and the first month of 2022 is almost over already. How quickly the time goes and what a hot Summer we have had so far here in Australia.

It's time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink and this week we have a colour challenge suggested by me so I hope you like it. 😊 The team have all created gorgeous cards to inspire you so I hope you can pop over to the blog and perhaps join us!

For my card this week, I created a hello card for a friend. I couldn't help but use the delightful Artistically Inked set and DSP and leave a lot of white space to show off these pretty colours.

A couple of layers and touches of gold and this Clean and Simple card is ready to go in the post.

Despite the challenge here being about the Colours, my starting point for a card is always the stamp set. When that is decided, then I can start planning my layout etc. What is the starting point for you?

Card stock: Whisper White
Inks: Majenta Madness, Just Jade, Moonlight Mist
Designer Series Paper: Expressions of Ink
Stamp set: Artistically Inked
Accessories: Die cutting machine, Artistic Dies, Metallic Sequins, Simply elegant Trim

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have enjoyed the inspiration and I look forward to seeing what you create for this challenge with these pretty colours.

'Til next time,

Jan

Just Add Ink Summer Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to our first Just Add Ink challenge for 2022 and in celebration we are having a fun Blog Hop! You may have arrived from the lovely Kim's  colourful project or you may be starting here.If you get lost along the way. clicking the challenge graphic will take you to the Just Add Ink blog and a full list of everyone taking part.I hope you have a lot of fun Hopping around using the Next button at the end of this and everyone's posts and are inspired by the Summer themed projects to join in the challenge yourself!

This is the first of two projects I created this week. Both are Sunflower themed as they are a Summer favourite of mine and I have some growing in my garden again this year.

This image is coloured with a mixture of Copics and Blends and features the beautiful Sunflower Dies as a background. I do love a white on white texture with a pop of colour.

In this version, the colours were sponged first and the image stamped over the top and embossed in Black afterwards. The background uses the Subtles EF and it is indeed Subtle.

Which of these do you like better?

You're off to see the lovely Nikki"s project next which is super pretty. I hope you enjoy the Hop and don't forget to come back and join in the challenge!

Card stock: Whisper White, Gorgeous Grape, Basic Black, Be Dazzling Specialty Paper (Sab)

Stamps: Celebrate Sunflowers

JAI #585 Whimsical Packaging

Happy Friday everyone and welcome back! It's the middle of December already and I, like most of you I am sure, am busy creating for Christmas. This year I have added candle making, moisturisers for face and body to my repertoire and, rather amazingly I have even managed to propagate a few plants. So that busy time of the year it truly is!!

And it's the last Just Add Ink challenge for 2021!!! Nikki has asked us to Just Add Christmas packaging - the perfect challenge for this season of gift giving. This challenge goes for 2 weeks and the team won't be choosing winners so please comment on everyone's photos and share the love this Christmas.

I created a cute little box using the Window Box Thinlits and the Whimsical Trees bundle.

Whilst the Window Box is retired, it is still a handy tool for packaging little jars or sweets for gifts.

Once the box was cut out and assembled, a strip of the pretty Whimsy & Wonder DSP was wrapped around it, scoring it for the sides of the box as I went. Then natural twine and silver Elegant Thread topped off the side details. Whilst the top of the box is decorated with images and the cute tree dies from the Whimsical bundle.

Inside, is a little jar of body butter I've created and the box is the perfect size to gift it in.

Thanks for popping by today and also throughout the year! I really value the time people take to leave comments on my projects whether here on my blog or on my instagram account @mcqueenjan. We all need encouragement from time to time to inspire us and I really appreciate you all. Just Add Ink is a wonderful team of ladies whom I've been blessed to be part of for many years.  I hope you have enjoyed our challenges and projects throughout the year and come back for our annual Blog Hop in mid January!

I may post again before Christmas and the New Year so I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas Day celebrating with family and friends - especially for those that haven't been able to be together for the last 2 years. And a truly fabulous year in 2022!

Til next time,
