Floral Wings JAI # 273

It's Friday and that means it's time for a fun new challenge at Just Add Ink! The lovely Rochelle has suggested a fabulous colour challenge for us all to use. And the Team have used these colours brilliantly so I hope you can take a moment to check them out and be inspired :-)

Here are the Colours for this week's challenge:

So two bright and bold colours and two neutrals :-)

Blackberry Bliss and Bermuda is one of my favourite colour combos and it didn't take long to put them together on the Floral Wings butterfly :-) However the off-kilter panels were a bit tricky to layer evenly and took quite a few goes to get right.
The fantastic Brick Wall EF helps give the illusion of some climbing roses and adds a little subtle texture. With the addition of the simple scripted Birthday wishes and the now standard Silver Metallic Thread the collection of cards for my young Cousin is complete at last :-)

Card stock: Blackberry Bliss, Bermuda Bay, Smoky Slate, Whisper White
Ink: Bermuda Bay, Blackberry Bliss, Crumb Cake, Smoky Slate
Stamps: Floral Wings, Silhouettes and Script
Accessories: Big Shot, Boho Blossoms and Brick Wall EF, Bold Butterfly Framelits, White Perfect Accents, Basic Rhinestones

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop over to Just Add Ink and see all the wonderful inspiration from the Team and I look forward to seeing what you will create with these colours this week too!

Happy stamping until next time,

Jan

Hello Sunshine PCCCSC #155

It's the last week of July which means that we are two thirds through Winter . Hooray!! Of course, I'm sure those in the Northern Hemisphere will be as sad that their Summer is the same as I am glad about Winter….:-)

And being Wednesday, it is time for another sketch from The Paper Craft Crew. The Team have created a great variety of cards to inspire you so I do hope you can take a moment to have a look.

Here is the Sketch:

And here is my card - there isn't much sunshine outside today so is time to create our own :-)

The brick wall embossed Island Indigo card with the Sky DSP gives a sense of looking out a window and is the last card of a set I am putting together for a young Cousin. The "Hello" is stamped onto Whisper White card stock and looks a bit like a Dymo label - just the love the look of these scripted greetings! A little Epoxy heart sticker over a punched red heart is the finishing touch.

Card stock: Crushed Curry, Island Indigo, Basic Black, Soft Sky
Designer Series Paper: Sweet Dreams (Retired)
Inks: Crushed Curry, Momento Tuxedo Black
Stamps: Silhouettes and Script
Accessories: Big Shot, Square Framelits, Brick Wall EF, Epoxy heart Stickers, Banner Punch, 1/2" Circle punch, Basic Grey Twine

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you can take a moment to pop over to The Paper Craft Crew and see what the Team have made to inspire you and I look forward to seeing what you will make with this sketch too!

Happy stamping until next time,

Hello Butterflies JAI # 272

We have had some beautiful sunny days this week and even though they've come with cool nights it is much preferable to the grey and cloud filled days that we often see in July. Sally the Lab has been demanding to go for her walks in contrast to heading back to bed if its overcast - such a funny girl :-)

And we have a fabulous and fun challenge at Just Add Ink this week too! The lovely Di has suggested we "Just Add Butterflies" and so I am sure this will be a popular one! Do take some time to pop on over and see what the Team have made to inspire you as the creations this week are AMAZING!!

Here is my card :-)

The beautiful Watercolor Wings butterfly is intended to be the focus so I really wanted the background to be subtle. The butterfly colours are simply Tempting Turquoise - stamped off for the first time and then used again at full strength for the centre and Night of Navy. The curved dotty portion is one of the best things about working with photo polymer stamps - they are flexible and easily bend to create shapes if you are gentle with them :-) And I couldn't resist using some more Metallic Thread - how did we ever manage without it?? :-)

Card stock: Night of Navy, Whisper White, Silver Glimmer
Inks: Night of Navy, Tempting Turquoise,  Smoky Slate
Stamps: Watercolor Wings, Watercolor Wash
Accessories: Bold Butterfly Framelits, Greetings Thinlits, Metal rimmed Pearls, Silver Metallic Thread, Basic Rhinestones
Non SU: Stitched Die (My Favourite Things), Blue Sequin

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see the wonderful creations the Team have made to inspire you and I so look forward to seeing what you will create with butterflies this week too :-)

Happy stamping until next time,

Jan

Guy Greetings for PCCCSC 154

It's Wednesday and that means it's time for a fun new sketch from The Paper Craft Crew.  The Team have created a fantastic variety of cards to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment to pop on over and see :-)

Here is the sketch:

And here is my card :

If you've come from The Paper Craft Crew site you may notice one small change to my card to what is shown there - that is the addition of the White perfect accent to the black Satin bow. It just seemed a little dark to me and after first trying some linen thread as a bow on top of the ribbon, the white accent indeed seemed the "perfect" choice (sorry about the pun, but it is true!!) This was my first play with the Guy Greetings set and I did enjoy the fun of the contrast of the orange DSP to the otherwise black and white card. What do you think? I often find male cards easier than female ones - a CAS dream really ….and in this case the scattered silver sequins look a bit like hubcaps don't they?? LOL!! Well, I think they could do :-)

Card stock: Basic Black, Whisper White, Tangerine Tango
Designer Series Paper: Neutrals Stack, Schoolhouse
Inks: Momento Tuxedo Black
Stamps: Guy Greetings
Accessories: Big Shot, Square Framelits, Circle Framelits, Triple Banner Punch, Black Satin Ribbon, Metallic Sequin Pack, White Perfect Accents

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to stop by The Paper Craft Crew and see the great variety of cards the Team have made to inspire you and I look forward to see what you will create with this sketch too :-)

Happy stamping until next time,

Follow Your Dreams for JAI #271

Friday has come around super quick this week and I am looking forward to having some crafting time this weekend :-)

And if you are looking for some inspiration for your crafting this weekend we have a fantastic new  challenge for you at Just Add Ink.  Narelle has suggested this fabulous sketch for us to use :-) The Team have created some amazing cards to inspire you this week so I hope you can take a moment to pop on over and take a peek!

Here is the sketch:
A couple of layers and lots of room for interpretation - I love it, don't you too?

Yes, I''m working my way through the images of this cute stamp set and becoming friends with my Aqua Painter along the way :-)  My other best friend I'm discovering,  is a paper towel to dab with if there is too much colour or water and also you can use your brush tip to add OR REMOVE water and ink :-) That last part especially, was news to me and really does make it a lot less scary knowing that if you make a little mistake you can often improve on it. So I coloured the caravan initially using Melon Mambo and Mint Macaron inks - and it looked so pretty until I went to pair it with the fun Pool Party DSP….so went back to square one and coloured again with Pool Party  - I'm not sure if the roof shading is quite right??  and this will form part of a package of cards for a young Cousin with a birthday coming up soon - I hope she likes it (and there's no risk of her seeing this, phew! )

Card stock: Melon Mambo, Basic Black, Pool Party, Whisper White and Watercolour Paper
Designer Series Paper: Neutrals Stack, Schoolhouse
Inks: Melon Mambo, Pool Party, Basic Grey, Black Stazon,
Stamps: You're Sublime
Accessories: Big Shot, Circle Framelits, Banner Framelits, Large Polka Dots EF, Aqua Painter, White Bakers Twine, Metallic Sequins Pack

I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see all the wonderful creations to inspire you and I look forward to see what you create with this sketch too :-)

Happy stamping until next time,

Toadally Awesome for PCCCSC 153

The "chill factor" has certainly lived up to expectations the last few days. We've had our two coldest day in 20 years !And we  hope to see the sun sometime before we forget what it looks like….ok, not quite THAT bad :-) But there's been plenty of cloud and rain and some hail too….so I've looked it up - just under 7 weeks till Spring  - and yes, I will be counting :-)

And now it's time for a new sketch from The Paper Craft Crew. The Design Team have created a great variety of cards to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment to pop on over and take a look.

Here is the sketch:

Lots of layers, which I know some love but I found this one a little scary. But that's what a challenge is about - pushing the boundaries of our comfort zones so we grow isn't it :-)

Here is my card:

Of course this colour can be a bit scary too but it does make a cute frog / toad :-) I swapped the card stock and DSP from the sketch around  and used the new Silver Metallic thread instead of ribbon which enabled the card to have a clean look along with the crisp colours. As for the colouring….I am becoming friends with my Aqua Painter - it's all quite new to me but am enjoying learning!

Card stock: Cucumber Crush, Whisper White
DSP: Cherry On Top Stack
Inks: Cucumber Crush, Momento Tuxedo Black
Stamps: You're Sublime, Petite Petals
Accessories: Big Shot, Circle Framelits, Large Polka Dots EF, 3/4" Circle Punch, Triple Banner Punch, Petite Petals Punch, Angled Tag Topper Punch (Retired), Aqua Painter, Silver Metallic Thread, Basic Rhinestones

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop on over and see the inspiration from the Team at The Paper Craft Crew and I look forward to seeing what you will create with this sketch too!

3rd Tree Shaker for JAI #270

This week has been beautifully mild but we are in for a wet and chilly weekend which will at least be good for the ski fields as the School Holidays draw to a close :-)

But if you're not looking for snow outside maybe you might like to try looking for some inside?
Yes, It is time for a fun new challenge at Just Add Ink and this week the lovely Nikki has suggested these Inspiration Photos for us. They have a fantastic Christmas in July look to them! The Team have made some amazing creations to inspire you too so I hope you can take a moment to pop on over and have a look!

Here are the photos:

Classic red and white and a tree…or maybe two?!
Inspiration photos are a great challenge as you can pick and choose which elements you want to use and that can be as many or as few as you like! What jumped out at me was the red and white twirls and stripes and the green tree with its ornaments and the star at the top.
So what images do you see?

Red and white has been my favourite Christmas colour combo for decorations over the last couple of years and so it was time to put those ideas into a card. Last year, my first card with the Trees set was a Shaker card and a friend "challenged" me to make more so this is the third in that Series too - such fun!!
To raise the white layer high enough to fit the Shaker Frame Adhesive without being lumpy, I used a layer of fun foam…otherwise all products are Stampin Up including some Crystal Effects on the Joy for a little shine :-)

Now to create room for the greeting within the embossed trees I cut 3 rectangles from some DSP Bases the size of the card front and used the Label Framelits to cut a window in each piece of card big enough for the greeting and then stuck them together.

To make my Big Shot sandwich, I first stamped the greeting on the white panel where I wanted it, and placed inside the EF. The EF goes on the bottom of Tab 2 and then the DSP bases on top with the window over the greeting and one cutting plate on top - no cutting plate underneath :-)

Card stock: Real Red, Whisper White, Silver Glimmer, Red Glimmer
Designer Series Paper: Brights Stack
Inks: Garden Green, Real Red
Stamps: Festival of Trees, Wondrous Wreath
Accessories: Big Shot, Wondrous Wreath Framelits, Tree EF, Tree Punch, Confetti Stars Punch, Itty Bitty Punch Pack, Metallic Silver Twine, Crystal Effects, Silver Metallic Twine, Shaker Frame Adhesive (retired), fun foam sheets (non SU)

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see all the fabulous creations the Team have made to inspire you this week and I look forward to seeing what you will make with these fabulous photos too :-)

Happy stamping until next time,

Butterfly Greetings PCCCSC #152

It was a chilly start to the day here in Melbourne being a mere 2 degrees Celsius outside at 7am this morning but it is a small price to pay for the sunny day that followed. I don't mind the frosty Winter mornings so much if it means we have a sunny day. It's when it is freezing ALL DAY that it seems really miserable.

And being Wednesday, it is time for another sketch from The Paper Craft Crew. The Team have created a great variety of cards to inspire you and there is even some BLOG CANDY on offer for those living within the United States to win too!!

So without further ado, here is the Sketch:

Being a CAS girl at heart, I really enjoyed playing with this sketch :-)

Whilst I was in the middle of making this card I had one of those fabulous Brown Boxes that signifies a Stampin Up order arrive which meant I had a difficult decision to make  -  continue making the card I had in mind or choose some new goodies to complete it with. Oh, it wasn't easy -  there is always an excitement around new products isn't there :-) In the end, I made a compromise - I continued with the idea I had started with and added the brand new "hello" from the Greeting Thinlits instead of a stamped greeting - so dilemma over lol! And instead of using a strip of DSP for the background as per the sketch, this time I used the single  broken line image from the Butterfly Basics set to stamp three lines for a similar effect. And you too, can flip over or leave out certain parts of the sketch - just as long as the sketch can be identified in your creation. Another element, the three dots on the side I have changed slightly too: I have used scattered rhinestones instead of lining them up exactly evenly.. it's all about using the sketch to spark your creativity :-)

Card stock: Whisper White, Watermelon Wonder, Tip Top Taupe
Inks: Pool Party, Blushing Bride, Tip Top Taupe
Stamps: Butterfly Basics, Gorgeous Grunge
Accessories: Big Shot, Butterfly Thinlits, Greetings Thinlits, Blossom Accents, Silver Metallic Thread, Basic Rhinestones

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to The Paper Craft Crew and see the great variety of cards the Team have made to inspire you this week and don't forget there is some Blog Candy on offer (by random draw) for those who enter from the United States too so I look forward to seeing your creations in the Gallery this week :-)

Happy stamping until next time,

Ice Creams for JAI #269

This week has really flown - so hard to believe it is Friday already!
And we have a new challenge for you at Just Add Ink this week. Kim has suggested a fabulous Colour Challenge for us all so I hope you can take a moment and pop on over and see the wonderful creations the Team have made to inspire you this week! Colour challenges are great because they can encourage us to try a colour combos we might not usually use or to find a different way to use some of our favourites :-)

So here are the colours for this week's challenge:

Aren't these just gorgeous hues - such soft and pretty colours together!
Here is my card - with a slight masculine flavour :-)

Yes, there are four flavours - a generous serve of ice-cream indeed :-)
For this beautiful colour combo I decided to try for an ombre-like effect with a twist - and separate the Pool Party and Soft Sky layers. The sentiment has also been stamped on Soft Sky and then fussy cut apart to layer on top of each other as the greeting says.

Card stock: Lost Lagoon, Soft Sky, Tip Top Taupe, Pool Party
Designer Series Paper: Wild About You Stack
Inks: Lost Lagoon, Soft Sky, Tip Top Taupe, Pool Party
Stamps: Sprinkles of Life
Accessories: Big Shot, Large Polka Dots EF, Circle Framelits, Tree Builder Punch, Banner Punch, Crystal Effects, Saleabration Button Pack, Soft Sky Twine ( Saleabration), Basic Rhinestones

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can pop on over to Just Add Ink and see all the fabulous cards the Design Team have made to inspire you and I look forward to seeing what you will create with these gorgeous colours too!

Happy stamping until next time,

Florals in Pink

Here we are back for a second post today- I know, pretty unusual lol - of a card I made last week for a new friend's birthday :-)
This too, like the one I shared yesterday, is a CASE of a beautiful card by Alison Barclay. I loved Alison's design and so only added a different base card colour and some bling and another change in colour combo of course!

Unfortunately, the winter light means the photo doesn't show how pretty this really is but you get an idea at least! The card base is Melon Mambo and there is a layer of gold glimmer underneath the raised white panel. The Pink roses are also all raised on dimensionals too for some added interest and there is a sprinkling of rhinestones too - I hope she likes it!

Card stock: Melon Mambo, Whisper White, Gold Glimmer
Inks: Melon Mambo, Pink Pirouette, Old Olive
Stamps: Floral Wings (Hostess)
Accessories: Big Shot, Bold Butterflies Framelits, Basic Rhinestones

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you are enjoying your Winter or Summer and getting creative.

Happy stamping until next time,

Jan

First Birthday Shaker PCCCSC #151

It's Wednesday and the first of July - we've  officially come to the middle month of Winter :-) So far we have had a warmer than usual winter apparently - lets hope that continues although we are in need of a little rain.

And it's also time for a new sketch from The Paper Craft Crew! The Team have made fabulous and varied cards to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment to check them out :-)

Here is the sketch:

And here is my card :

This is a shaker card for a friend's son's birthday and while it uses some retired stamps, they seemed so appropriate for this precious wee fellow and his first birthday celebrations!
As usual, I used some of the now retired Shaker Frame Adhesive (yes, I really stocked up on it, lol) to give enough room for the stars and sequins to move around. These frames are twice as thick as standard dimensionals so to help the frame sit better on the card I cut away the DSP and card banner behind the frame using the same square framelits  and then raised the background DSP and white card layer on dimensionals. It's hard to see but the Bermuda Bay card banner is embossed using the Alphabet Press EF too.

To fill the shaker I used a combination of Silver Glimmer paper punched with the Confetti Stars Punch and and some of the Brights Sequins assortment. So hopefully this might entertain him for a little while too :-)

Card stock: Bermuda Bay, Whisper White, Silver Glimmer
Designer Series Paper: Cherry On Top Stack
Inks: Bermuda Bay, Watermelon Wonder
Stamps: Really Good Greetings, Well Worded (both retired)
Accessories: Big Shot, Square Framelits, Alphabet Press EF, Timeless Type Alphabet Sizlits (retired), Window Sheet, Shaker Frame Adhesive (retired), Confetti Stars Punch, Scallop Border Punch (retired), Bermuda Bay Twine

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a moment to pop over to The Paper Craft Crew and see what the Team have made to inspire you this week and I look forward to seeing your creation with this sketch too!

Happy stamping until next time,

Jan
