Sending Floral Hugs for JAI #402

Welcome and a happy Good Friday to you!! This week really does seem to have flown and now Easter and school holidays are upon us. Here in Australia, this weekend also sees the end of Daylight Savings - and is a rather sad goodbye to Summer so it really is a busy time. But it will be nice to see the sun a little earlier in the mornings before Winter decides to make it's presence felt.

We have a new challenge at Just Add Ink and this week Nikki has suggested a fun and fabulous one for us. To Just Choose Two - out of Stencil, Foil or Feathers. There are so many possibilities so to get you started the design team have created an amazing array of cards so I hope you can take a moment to pop on over and take a look and we'd love to see you join us :-)

The choices were so enticing but in the end I went with the familiar Foil and Stencil :-) The floral image stamp set is new to me though - the pretty Lots of Lavender is one of the Saleabration Free sets. Here it's embossed in Silver to go with the foil word, and then coloured using an Aqua Painter and ink pads.

For the background, a little Smoky Slate re-inker is added to Shimmery White embossing paste so it contrasts stands out on the white card stock.

The silver foil hugs sits over a Berry Burst layer to add a little extra colour too.

Card stock: Berry Burst, Tranquil Tide, Whisper White (thick), Silver Foil
Inks: Berry Burst, Melon Mambo, Pear Pizazz, Tranquil Tide, Versamark, Smoky Slate (Re-inker)
Stamps: Lovely Inside and Out, Lots of Lavender (Saleabration)
Accessories: Big Shot, Lovely Words Thinlits, Pattern Party Decorative Masks, Shimmery Embossing Paste, White Embossing Powder, Silver Embossing Powder, Glitter Enamel Dots

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see all the gorgeous inspiration from our lovely team and I look forward to seeing what you will create with your chosen Two out of Three choice this week.

Happy stamping until next time,

You Are Simply Amazing JAI #401

Happy Friday everyone and welcome back! This weekend Melbourne is playing host to the Grand Prix.......whilst some families will love heading into the city to be surrounded by the fun and noise  others of us will be just as happy enjoying the weather and with some time crafting too:-)

It's time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink and this week we have a fun and fabulous sketch created for us by Tina. You can use it as is or feel free to flip it over or turn it around to suit your ideas. Our lovely and talented design team have created an awesome collection of cards to inspire you so I hope you have a moment to pop on over and take a look and hopefully join us.

With  Saleabration nearly over I thought it was time to re- look at some of my favourite stamps from the 2017-18 Annual Catalogue. So out came the Daisy Delight stamp but then I couldn't resist to add this lovely sentiment using this Saleabration stamp bundle for a lovely friend's birthday :-)

The daisy image is stamped and punched x3 using Pink Pirouette ink onto the same coloured card stock. There is some subtle sparkle from Wink of Stella applied to all the top petals but it's a bit hard to see in the photo. A gold faceted gem and iridescent sequins and this little sparkly number is ready for the post.

Card stock: Night of Navy, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White, Gold Glimmer
Inks: Pink Pirouette, Versamark, Pear Pizazz
Stamps: Daisy Delight, Amazing You (Saleabration)

Magical Day for JAI #400

Happy Friday everyone and welcome! This week the weather has definitely had a touch of Autumn about it and the mornings are noticeably darker. I'm guessing the end of Daylight Savings can't be too far away now.

It's time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink and yes, its our 400th Challenge!! To celebrate this fabulous milestone, we have some prizes and Guest Designer Spots to give away so make sure you pop on over to the challenge blog to check out the details and see all the beautiful creations our wonderful team have created to inspire you. I feel very privileged to have been part of this team of very lovely ladies since around #270. It doesn't feel that long ago yet at the same time, I am blessed with friends that feel like they have been there forever :-)  The challenge this week is to use this fun and colourful Inspiration Photo suggested by Kim and we'd love you to join us!

I was inspired by the speckles on the eggs and how closely packed the eggs are to create a rainbow scene birthday card for one of my Niece's whose birthday is coming up soon. This is how it lies flat to fit in a (Australian) standard C6 envelope.
To create the rainbow, I coloured the shapes with Zig markers on water color paper and flicked water over the colour panels and dabbed with a paper towel to get the splotchy look. Then I used the new Rainbow Builder Framelits to cut them out along with the cloud layers.

Yes, it's a Twisted Easel card for something a bit special!

Behind the rainbow is a water coloured sky using ink pads and a few flicks of water and Wink of Stella. The Unicorn's mane and tail were coloured with Zigs but his body is simply Wink of Stella and it has a soft sparkle in real life.

To create the cloud on the base card, I used one of the long cloud - line dies and turned it around to go through the Big Shot a few times and enclose the greeting. A fussy cut little sparkly silver and pink unicorn from the co-ordinating Specialty DSP and this card is ready to go in the post.

Card stock: Melon Mambo, Whisper White, Basic Black, Silver Glimmer
Designer Series Paper: Myths & Magic Specialty
Inks: Versamark, Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, Pacific Point
Stamps: Magical Day
Accessories: Big Shot, Magical Mates Framelits, Rainbow Builder Framelits, White EP, Basic Rhinestones, Aqua Painter, Wink of Stella
Non SU: Distress Watercolor card stock (Ranger), Zig Clean Colour Real Real Brush Markers

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you will take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and check out the special prize details for the winners this week and see all the fabulous projects the team has made to inspire you. I so look forward to seeing what you create for this special challenge!

Weather Together for JAI #399

Happy Friday folks and welcome :-) It's a long weekend here in Melbourne and there will be a couple of things going on in the city - a Grand Prix and a Moomba Parade - think bird man competitions and the like. Or an extra day to spend at the craft table :-)

Our new challenge at Just Add Ink this week is suggested by Chloe . She's chosen a fun theme for us all to use - to Just Add Water. That could be water colouring, water themed creatures or anything to do with Water as the main focus for your creation. As always our lovely design team have made a stunning array of cards to inspire you so please do pop on over and hopefully join us.

For my card I chose rain as my water element. I water coloured the background and then stamped and coloured images from Weather Together to make an encouragement card. A number of my friends are going through some tough times at the moment - it seems to be a season of it - so I might need to make a few of these.

Yes, there was some fussy cutting in the flowers but it's worth the effort to make the umbrella look generous and overflowing.  I kept the design really simple with pops of colour and just added a little bling with the sequin trim and rhinestones.

Sorry about the colour variations in the photos - it comes from taking photos at different times of day in different light. Lesson learned.

Card stock: Melon Mambo, Night of Navy, Daffodil Delight
Inks: Basic Grey, Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, Momento Tuxedo Black
Stamps: Weather Together
Access: Silver Sequin Trim, Basic Rhinestones, Umbrella Weather Framelits
Non SU: Water color paper (TIm Holtz)

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see all the cards our lovely design team have created to inspire you and I look forward to seeing what you will create with this fun water theme this week too!

Happy stamping until next time,

More Berry Birthdays

Welcome to the weekend :-) I hope you're enjoying the change of Seasons and able to spend some time getting creative in your down time. After finishing my card for this week's Just Add Ink  colour challenge (which you can see here) I had a couple of coloured flowers on my desk so I decided to make them up into similar cards.

I'm not usually a big user of neutral colours but I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked using Sahara Sand for the JAI colour challenge so I carried the idea and layout through to these cards.

Yes, it's even the same layout with a couple of changes - some Emerald Envy and Tranquil tide leaves from Oh So Eclectic replace the vellum.

And the Layered Leaves EF for the background gives some subtle dimension.

This silver embossed version has a Smoky Slate base and clear gem centre.

Card stock: Smoky Slate, Sahara Sand, Berry Burst, Whisper White
Inks: Versamark, Berry Burst, Emerald Envy, Tranquil Tide
Stamps: Beautiful Day, Oh So Eclectic
Accessories: Big Shot, Eclectic  Layers Thinlits, Layered Leaves Dynamic EF, Gold and White EP, Basic Rhinestones, Faceted Gems (Gold and Clear)

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope this inspires you to step outside your comfort zone and use some colours that you don't usually use and just maybe, you too might find you like them more than you expected :-)

Happy stamping until next time,

Berry Happy Birthday for JAI #398

Wow, the first week of March is here already - Happy Autumn (or Spring if you're visiting from the Northern Hemisphere). It's hard to believe that it's time for Summer to end - February wasn't quite as hot as usual but we've had a few crisp mornings lately so it does feel like there's change in the air.

It's also time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week we have a gorgeous Colour challenge suggested by Patrice. Our talented and lovely design team have all made fabulous projects to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment and pop on over and join us :-)

Yes, I'm a pink lover and Berry Burst is my favourite colour to stamp with after Melon Mambo :-) However , I'm not usually a user of Crumb Cake and the like ( I know, ducking for cover!) so this pretty combo threw me a little initially. But after I decided to water colour the flower image from Beautiful Day everything finally came together.

For the background I used the gorgeous Shimmery White embossing paste with some drops of Sahara Sand Re-inker added.  Using a Silicone Craft Sheet as a palette makes it easy to mix the colour through before using the stencil and taping the card stock down to a board reduces warping.
As there are no greens for leaves in the colours, I cut off the leaf from the image and die cut some vellum leaves using the Eclectic Layers Framelits.

So lots of sparkle and shine!! Funnily enough I found the neutral colour wasn't quite as scary as I had first thought so how good is that!! So much so that I have a couple more cards to show you in a couple of days :-)

Card stock: Sahara Sand, Whisper White, Berry Burst, Vellum
Inks: Versamark, Berry Burst, Sahara Sand (Reinker)
Stamps: Beautiful Day
Accessories: Big Shot, Eclectic Layers Thinlits, Pattern Party Decorative Masks, Shimmery White Embossing Paste, Gold EP, White EP, Aqua Painter, Basic Rhinestones
Non SU: Watercolor paper- Tim Holtz Distress watercolor card stock

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can pop over to Just Add Ink and see all the beautiful cards our lovely team have made to inspire you and I look forward to seeing what you will create with these pretty colours too!

Happy stamping until next time,

Jan
